'01 Foglights

It seems that I am having to replace the bulbs for my foglights every couple of months. I took the the truck to the dealer and was told that the design of the foglight was poor. Something about it not being waterproof or something. These are the factory lamps that came w/ the truck. A crack developed in both lenses, which I had the dealer replace under warranty. Now the replaced lenses have a crack in them. At 1 point, I even replaced the bulbs w/ a lower wattage (35w) PIAA. And now, even that bulb has blown. Any suggestions?

Thanks in Advance,
Brian

Arrow One answer.

Here's a LINK to a thread I posted a while ago with a simple solution.

get this. i thought the fog light burned out. i checked it yesterday, and it was out. while driving home from the beach, i thought, "eh, y not see if it's really out." what do u know, it was on. this morning, same thing. on my way in, i assume the light is out. midway through my trip, i decide to see. once again, they are on. what's the deal w/ that? and it always seems to be the lower right fog light.

There could be a loose connection somewhere... Check all the wires and if the bulb is in securly.

Strange!

I had the exact same problem. Lower passenger side fog light. Coincidence or what? Use some steel wool to sand off the inside of the light fixture and then do the same to the base of the light to ensure a good connection Then, fill the end cap with a sponge material or cotton or batting to soak up water and prevent any corrosion. Mine is good now. Also, the passenger side fog light is the one that gets th puddles in the rain if you think about it. Driver's side doesn't get so wet.
