I'm looking for somebody who might enlighten me on some information about lifting a 2000 4Runner... I recently installed a 2.5 inch polyurethane suspension lift kit from Skyjacker, along with a 1 inch body lift. Still, I have not achieved the height I want.

My intentions are to comfortably fit a 33x12.5 tire without major rubbing. After some research (probably should have done more), I bought OME 891 springs for the rear and OME 881 springs for the front. My intentions are to combine my already installed 2.5 inch lift along with the new OME lift to achieve more height and the desired bigger tires. To my knowledge, the springs should add an additional 2 inches of lift.

Finally, my question is if anyone has done this type of lift or know if it is actually possible without a major headache. Maybe more importantly, to fit that size tire underneath (with little to no rubbing), should I focus on a taller body lift instead of the suspension lift? Or do the two types of lifts, ultimately, achieve the same goal?

Any tips, information, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, you're asking for a lot of trouble to double up on those springs and spacers.

First off, putting more than 3" of lift on the front end will cause problems with the CV's, alignment and tie rods. Plus, the ride will be bone shattering.

Third, you wont get much more than 3" from your combination, even though you'd think you'd get 4.5"... but, you're using all your downtravel for the lift, and it can't go much further.

If I were you, I'd do another inch of body lift, or just trim the insides of the fenders.

Thanks for your advice! I was afraid of hearing that...Maybe I'll replace the polyurethane spacers with the new springs I bought and add another inch of body lift.

I took a look at the pictures of your rig and it looks awesome! What type of lift are you using?

Remember you added the spacers to old springs. If they are like mine were they had sagged. You may get enough lift with the new springs. You could add one top out spacer to the front for a little more height.

just run the 881s by themselves up front, and the 891s by themselves in the rear, then go with 1-1.5" of body lift. With mild trimming you will have a sweet ride that actually rides pretty well too.
