00 4runner auto trans problems (tranny question)
Alright heres the deal, I got this 4runner from the junk yard which is in not bad shape its a 3.4 auto 2000 runner. I've been having problems with the transmission. I need to know if the spare 3.0 a340h transmission would work in this rig in place of the a340f transmission thats currently in the truck. I heard that the 3.0 to 3.4 bolt patterns the same but I'm not sure.
The problem is that I picked the truck up for cheap money 600 bucks. The tranny cooler and radiator was destroyed on the bottom. The runner has a problem with gear selection. It doesn't want to go into reverse and free revs (only to 2k rpm) which is weird. in lurches forward in park like it still wants to drive and drives in all other gears but even in park it doesn't want to rev past 2000 rpm.
1.I'm thinking the clutches got so hot that the melded together when the idiots busted the radiator leaking out the tranny fluid. Thus is only wants to go forward all the time which would explain the lurch in park and struggle to rev to 2k rpm.
2.OR its something with a electronic solenoid messing with the torque converter not letting it rev over 2k.
3.My third idea is that the key doesn't want to come out when I turn it all the way to off and in park. Most auto's dont release the key until in park so could it be an issue with the shifting linkage being off?
Opinions would be greatly appreciated guys! I'm trying to fix it for my brother so he has something to haul his kids around in. Thanks for listening

Okay guys I think i have found the answer! I think that a T100 A340F transmission would work as long as I use the Toyota 4runner driver side transfercase
This forum (http://forum.ih8mud.com/95-gen-toyot...questions.html) has good information so far. What do you guys think? anyone done it?
