Zack's 86 4Runner DLX mild build

Hey guys my names Zack. I've been a member for a little while but like many have been here longer then what it actually is. Ill tell about why my username is the name it is also. Some of y'll has helped me with different things on this 4runner and all and i appreciate it. Ive thought about it and decided to start a build thread of my own (won't be to much building) but it may be interesting and some of the things i do to mine might help others.

So, down to the back story. (pics will be coming up probably tomorrow so stay tuned)
The reason there won't be to much building is cause im 17 right now. About 10-11 years ago my dad bought a 1986 Toyota 4Runner DLX 5 speed out of Thomasville, NC( still in NC). all original, completly stock (besides tire size), original step bumper, bench seat, AC. The top has never been taken off. It was a 2 owner now 3 (first owner bought it new then sold it to his son-in-law). 200,000 or so miles im guessing with part of it being rebuilt at about 180,000. He used it as a back up vehicle so he didnt drive it much unless for winter etc. well in the summer of 2014 it was rearended and completely destroyed the factory bumper so it was on to an aftermarket. when i turned 16 i started driving it and have been driving it as my DD to school, etc. I've kept maintenance, and replaced different things and ill get it all caught up as i go on. But in June of 2015 i got an 87 4runner sr5 for $500 to be my project, needed new motor front end and a few other things to be drivable. Sadly a few months later i had to sell it because i had no time to work on it. so thats where my name came from.

Thats somewhat of the back story on the trucks and ill try to get pics up ASAP of both and certain things ive done myself. Also in my pictures why some have gray trim and some don't is because one of the previous owners painted the front bumpers, mirrors trim and all grey, I dont understand why? but if some show black its because i put stuff on them to temporarily stay black to look better. This past week i did a LOT of repainting on many things so yall can check that out and see what you think!

Will be looking forward to seeing your pictures. No telling what previous owners were thinking when they do things. You can get it to where you want it to be with a little time and work.

That looks like a great 4Runner! Take good care of it and don't hack it up like I did to my truck when I was 17!

Here's some pics of the interior for now. All original except the carpet, bottom of the drivers seat and back bench seat. Passenger seat is all original. Only things that isn't is of course the radio and radio bezel( took both out of the 87 and repainted it) and the CB radio. Other then that the console now has a new coat of paint as well.

Repainting

So far as repainting this past week was my spring break so i repainted many things on the interior and exterior. I have the pics and process on most of them from before and after but it may take a little time to upload.

Interior: (rustolium leather brown)
- rear panels
- Fiberglass top trim
- kick panels in front
- the pieces at the bottom of the doors and tailgate
- plastic sides on seats
- console lid

Exterior: (rustolium gloss black)
- Front bumper! (biggest thing that it needed to look better)
- Bumper filler
- fog lights
- End caps
-mirrors
- Pieces in front and behind the rear wheel wells

I enjoy restoring trucks but my favorites are the original unrestored trucks, those are so hard to find and you have a gem on your hands. Great looking runner.
