Teuf's SAS thread 88 toyota PU 22r-e
My journey has begun. I have pondered an SAS for a long time. The axle I have was out of a neighbors 83 pu, when I lived in NH. So it has moved a lot in 10 years. Now that I can weld I am diving in, plus I finally saved enough. So here goes.
Truck 1988 PU 4 cyl 22r-e, as it sits now, 3' rancho lift F&R
281,952 K miles, 33/10.5/15 BFG's. Although i will keep the 33's for a bit longer I am thinking of going to 5.29's in anticipation of eventual 35's, we will see. My SAS is a 3 incher. 5' shackles in the rear should keep it level.

Thanks Tom
I think general off-roading some rock crawling. And or my
ifs needed overhauling so i decided an SAS was a good way to avoid that mess.
you know and I know solid axles are kinda cool.

Looks like I need to replace the shock mounts. Looks like say the creeper knuckle ball gusset kit. The Knuckle pitting I think I will use jb weld and then super smooth then paint? We will see.

Not sure if you think you'd need it, but there's also Marlin's knuckle gusset kit

I went with it just so I wouldn't need to weld more on my axle if I started doing more extreme wheeling and went hydro assist later.

The truck they came from had been damaged in a fire. The carcass sat in a field for about 3 years, then I traded a dead cherokee for the remains / the axle is what i wanted.
A little JB weld yesterday afternoon
I am cutting down the dust shield for the ring only.
Here are the goodies. Shweeeeet.
Guess who I got them from.

This afternoon it will be 24 hour cure time for the JB weld. I will finish the surface at that time.
And as a gift to my truck I made a little plaque for her. Not sure where to put it.
