Nick's 1993 Xtra-Cab

Picked this up late last week as you see it here. No rust (even after spending a few winters in MN) attributed to the foresight of a PO that Rhino-lined about 6" around the bottom of the body and most of the under side (someone put some lovin into this rig). Everything works except the dome light and Hella's.

Smelled gas and, thanks to YotaTech, was able to diagnose the source as the fuel pulsation damper, so I will be popping off the intake manifold and probably sending out the injectors for cleaning and replacing a few gaskets while I am in there. Glad it didn't burn down before I found this.

33x12.50 Remington Mud Brutes came with it along with a 4" body lift. Wondering two things:

1) Did someone change the rear-end gearing on this truck? It seems to drive really well with the 3.0; maybe a touch under powered, but this is the biggest little truck I have ever had so I guess I'm not sure what to expect.

2) Anyone want to trade a 0-2" lift & 30/31/32" tires for a 4" lift & mud brutes? FREE (as long as you come and do the work ;O). This is going to be a DD during the winter months and 95% of my driving will be on-road with 2wd and I'd rather get better mpg.

Looking forward to many years with this truck and to getting further acquainted with the Tech section. Only plans for this truck are to get everything working, find all the little missing bits at a junk yard, and try to find some spots to see what it can do off-road... or just hope that MN gets some snow this winter.

Cheers,
-Nick

Hey Nick I also just bought a 93 xtracab with the v6. lifted 4 inches with 33x12.50s. mine has stock gearing and it seems a little under powered to. but i know there was a way to tellwhat gears you have by jacking up the rear end. im not sure how exactly you do it but you mard a spot on the drive line and one on the tire of hub. and you have to spin i believe the tire one complete rotation and however many times the drive line spins thats the gear ratio. but im not %100 percent sure on that. I know thats how we did the trannys before. but that might help a little on something to research? lol

Nice looking little truck. Those extended cabs ride so nice. As far as your dome light, in most cases, people disconnect the door buzzzer just above the brake pedal and the dome light circuit runs through it. If that is the case, just need to hook it back up. If you want to quieten or stop the buzzer, I have it listed in my 88 Runners build thread on the first page on where to find the fix for it. Looking forward to your build and welcome to Yotatech.

Is a nice looking truck!

It appears that you have the ADD front end, if MPG is your goal, it might be worth your time to get a set of manual hubs.

The 3.0 pushes 33s fine, so it could possibly have the stock gearing. You can decode your door tag to tell you what it had for gears stock, and if they arent stock, bucholz is on the right path. Any idea what your getting for MPG now?

Welcome to YT!
