Ghost Bolt 1988 22RE Rebuild Thread (Picture Porn!!)
Alright alright alright!!! Officially starting my rebuild on my still aptly nicknamed Ghost Bolt. A couple weeks ago my engine locked up and after a large amount of reading and researching I determined it to be a broken timing chain. So instead of wasting time doing 60% of what needs to be done to pull the engine just to check the timing cover and valves I decided to rip that sucker out!! I'm really excited because I get to clean and paint my engine/engine bay and fix the nightmare that is my wiring. I'd also much rather spend the time and money doing this from the block up instead of fixing one thing at a time.
Having said that if any of you lovely people can link some info on the wiring that'd be sweet as hell. I heard that some people were able to eliminate a whole bunch of wires to make the bay look super clean. I want to tuck as many lines and wires as possible also. MSD is in my city and I have a pretty reliable connection there so a lot of the electrical components will come from them. I also have decided to go with ENGNBLDR for my parts. My color scheme is going to be blue on black meaning black block and bay with blue EFI manifold, valve cover and wires and hoses.
For those of you who don't know why it's called Ghost Bolt (which is probably all but like 4 of you hahaha) nearly every single thing on the damn truck was missing one bolt. The truck further earned its name by showing me how consistent the PO was when it came to cutting corners.
Since I know you lot love your pictures and seeing as how your help is always appreciated I have baited this thread with as many pictures as I can. For the first round I will post the pictures of the engine removal as well as some miscellaneous ones that I have had for a while. Enjoy!
