dsal_86Yota build/rebuild 1986 Yota 4x4 Pickup

So after doing a few random threads and reading. I have finally decided to start a build Thread. Finally in a spot where I can scrape a few dollars to spend on my truck. So here we go.
A little back history. Bought the truck in December 2003 at 19 for $1550 from a buy here pay here lot. My mom knew the owner and he let me make payments since I was working fastfood at the time. When I got it, it was bone stock with the exception of chrome rims and no stereo. Over the next 2 years I add chrome rollbar, steps, mild lift(shackle and torsion) put black rims with 35s on it, replaced rusted bed, had to replace both doors, drivers side hit buy mini van in blockbuster parking lot, passenger the internal lock assembley broke. back in November 05 I bought a new truck and the Yota has since been a toy and I LOVE IT.
The Truck: 1986 Yota Pickup Xtra Cab 4x4, 22re Auto
The accident:My sister hit a bear with my Yota, then a electical pole then a 12x12 fence post. My little sister has been using my 86 Yota Truck cause her eclipes died. She was using my Yota and was going home after giving a friend a ride home and was about 1 mile from my moms house and a full grown brown bear comes out in the road. We live in a small town in Colorado and are very close to the mountains. The bears have been very bad. They have been getting in to residencal areas alot this year. With the lack of food cause of people building in the mountains they are coming down adn getting in the trash. But back to the accident. It was dark about 8pm. She reacted like most and start to aim to the left but the bear decided to go that way. The bears head was above the hood. So with the impact i figure the bear to be a full grown male and weight in about 600 plus. My sister says the head was bigger then a bowling ball. She is ok.

WHEN I FIRST GOT IT, DECEMBER 2003

PAINTED BLACK WITH 32's

WITH 35's BACK IN EARLY 2006, MY 05 DODGE HEMI I HAD BEHIND IT

A expedition rig. I hunt and fish and want my rig to be the go to mountain rig. Just a good alround truck I can use up in the mountains to haul back elk and use to go to work when its snowing good or I just wanna drive it.

Little bit of progress

With my wrist still messed up there isnt alot I can do but did get some interior dash pieces done. Had these orginally for my 86 4runner I had but that is long gone. So these were colleting dust in the shed and decided should use them since there in better shape then the ones in the truck. Used Dupli Color prep spray and interior flat black.

Little Update

Finally healed, but havent been able to put ball joints or rotors on. After I healed, then weather went to crap. Then weather was nice and I was sick . Had to do a bunch of outside work and helped at my moms house last weekend. Did get a set of Buckets seats and center console from my sisters eclipes. The car is a paper weight. CPU is crapped out unless we take it to dealership and get reflashed at $500!! My sister got a j**p grand cherokee, was little disapointed in her pick HAHA but it runs and she does want to lift it some and go wheeling with me. But gonna try to work on Yota my next days off, as long as wife doesnt have a list of crap

Man, I feel for you, I recently hit a good sized black bear with my 8 week old chevy 2500 silverado, did nearly 4 grand worth of damage, he just shook it off and ran off into the woods

First attempt at body work

This is my first attempt at body work in over 7 plus years. Had a small hole, so i attempted to weld. First time welding in over 8 years. But it felt good to weld again.
The start

sanded down and spot welded hole

Bondo and Primer sprayed

Went to yoda jims in denver!!!!!!!

Went to Yoda Jims in Denver this past saturday. Its about a 2.5hr drive from my house, so wife went and we made a day of being in denver. While I was there I got my front radiator support and new front mount bushings and bolts. While the guy was getting that from there stash of them I was looking around in the back of a 4Runner that had some gauge cluster in there, looking to see if there was SR5 one with tach there and my wife finds a complete 84-85 grille in great conditions. She knew i had been looking at a few but they were a little beat up and this one was GREAT!!! I love my wife HAHA. So got the grille and su[IMG][/IMG]pport for $80!!!!! Got few pics of them last night when I got home and got them unloaded. Will start on swap soon and post better pics.
