The rust was too bad in a spot so I decided to just cut it out. Welded in a new piece, and slapped some bondo on it.

I'm having issues with my welder wire feed. Its like it cant grip the wire to send it to the gun. Had to mess with it to finish then it acted up again. Aaargh. Can't stuff just work?

Still sooooo much work to do, but at least to me... it's lookin good. Haha!

Going through your thread, and this post really resonated with me. I keep my 4Runner in the garage while my wife's car sits outside in the driveway. I always tell her that her car is replaceable, but the 4Runner is not. Yeah the body is a little rough and the AC doesn't work, but it just has so much character. When I load the boys in the back seat and I roll up the sides on the soft top, you should see how many thumbs up we get driving down the street.

Anyway, yes your truck is pure gold, enjoying the build.

Thanks cory! Yes these 4runners are actually considered classics now. Probably not mine, but a nice stock one.

Gizler I have the nob tightened down. Can you adjust the actual wheels? I'll check my manual.

The knob it what adjusts the tension.

The liner could be causing the wire to hang up.

I went and grabbed some seat belts out of a 3rd gen 4runner back seat today. It was the best I could find. They require some modification.

And it has to twist here for it to work. I didn't notice any problems from this.

Nice work on the Seat belts. I also did this mod on my old 1st gen. I was able to strap in the boys car seats. I really miss that.

All that I've got to do before the offroad trip this Saturday is an oil change in both this and the tow rig, and I'd like to weld on the rock sliders as well. I just dont know if I'll have the time for the sliders!!

Trail-gear winch plate, harbor freight D ring hitch. Nothing is ever as easy as it should be. The reciever on the bumper plate is exactly 2" ID so literally no 2" hitch actually fits inside. I had to grind down the hitch and hammer it in. Then I had to grind down the hitch pin too!! Ridiculous. But its in.

I went to a local steel shop and they didn't have 2" .120 DOM to use for my rock slider arm extensions. So I guess I won't have those for the trip. Alright, so the next pics on here should be wheeling pics!!

Welding the front made all the difference! You definitely need to lock and unlock the hubs a lot, but thats what copilots are for. I want to redo my exhaust. We got a lot of fumes in the vehicle because it terminates under the truck by the rear axle. Got some other items to work on too. But a great trip!!
