bob_351c's 89 toyota pickup td

Hey so this is my first post on this forum, ive been a member of a couple other toyota forums but they are more geared towards repairs and maintinance so i decided to start my build thread here. As the title says its an 89 toyota ext cab, 100% stock with a 3.0 and 5 speed. Bought it a few weeks ago with the intentions of a motor swap

this is the little guy thats going in there, its a 1.9 turbo diesel out of a 97 jetta. Its an older idi diesel so not quite the power or mpg's of a tdi but should still be a good motor after a few mods. and its not too bad for kms on it either, the sticker on the car read 255 000, which seems to be pretty decent for these cars

Havent really done too much work on it yet as theres no room in the garage, have too many toys and not enough space. Have to sell something first before i can start any real work on the truck. Anyway this is just a short post to show a little bit of what im doing and to make sure i actually follow through with a build thread. And to make sure i take pictures and a keep a record of all the work ive done and what all the parts im using are coming off of. also hoping to get any input from others that have done the same swap. Seen a few vw swaps on the forum and would love to hear from you guys when i get going on this thing. also sorry in advance they are cell phone pics for now and it may take a few trys to get them to show up

Just a quick update. Havent really been able to start any work as i have too many vehicles on the go right now, but ive just listed one and as soon as its gone i can get started. I did however mange to pick up a few of the parts i need for my build. I bought a parts truck which was just the frame and transmission, but the tranny turned out to be a g58 and i was after a w56, so back to the hunt for that. It did come with some good spare parts and two sets of manual locking hubs. I found some other good stuff at the yard, some leather seats out of a chevy and a complete grey interior to match the seats and the gear to convert to power windows and locks

Nice truck and good score on the leather seats.

5.9L's are not fun to work on. Come to think of it, every dodge i have worked on was a pain in my rear. haha

glad im not just talking to myself anymore, lol. Ya the seats are out of a chevy epica, and they are power and heated. And the 5.9 is in a jeep, im trying to sell it but with gas being so expensive it might be harder than i thought. Got the plenum gasket done about a month ago and have just been doing odds and ends on it to get it finished
