86 turbo truck build
86 regular cab 5spd 4x4 originally from Cali then Arizona, brought it home to BC, Canada.
Got tired of my Dakota...so I bought my first toyota pickup...not new to Toyotas tho.
How it looked before I bought it.
Got it home to wet BC...the paint was worn off all over...top cab corners were bare steel. No rust which is rare here so I decided i had better paint it.
304000miles approx rebuilt original motor 5 years previous but only a couple thou on it...Guy barely drove it...and seems like he never changed the coolant...but we will get to that later.
stripes had to come off for the new paint.
had to paint the cab and box separate because of space issues lol
hard to get a frame like this in bc
More to come

after new paint, windshield trim, misc trims...and more dollars than i wanted to spend...
most of which was and will continue to be supplied by Aaron Willis at lithiatoyotaparts.com...yup I ship it up to canada as toyota canada are a bunch of crooks...well their pricing is anyway!
Finally started dailying it around middle of march 2011. Truck got to canada in early feb I think...
Couple weeks of daily use then the head gasket popped.
plastic drivers side chain guide was half gone too...funny with only a few thou on it... Did a chain kit with metal backed guides. OEM toyota gasket kit and ARP studs cranked down to 80ftlbs.
a month later pulled it apart again to replace the faulty new tensioner with a Toyota one. what a pain
rebuilt the steering pump while I was in there and replaced a few hoses that the previous owner hadn't when he rebuilt it.
mid summer paint all cured and waxed. Swapped the 31's off my dodge before I sold it...threw the bumper back on...Think ill replace it with something that will hold a winch on occasion...but something subtle... Let me know of any ideas
more to come...

well, springs are pretty much done...they got 312xxxmiles on them...sorry this is the best before picture i have.
so I replaced them with some stock replacements from a local spring shop
rides way nicer now and had loaded it up overflowing with bark mulch...still rode higher than empty with the old springs.
I knew I was going to miss the posi that my dodge had so I got an elocker. While I was at it got new 4.56 gears front and rear and installed new cv's as the old ones were torn pretty good.
forgot to mention that I replaced the front rotors n calipers around the time the head gasket popped
Grind, weld, drill, tap
tada
12voltguys switch and harness. Definitely recommend him. I actually got him to make me an extra 12v plug for chargers etc...will get to that later

Well a few months ago I decided it was time to ditch the computer speakers that the PO had installed.
He had installed a 2000 tacoma cd player though and I really like the clean look...most people don't notice its not stock lol
Installed an amp and a couple 6x9's behind the seat...
The speakers didn't come with protective covers...Anyone have a couple to spare?
Then I got an iPod interface for the deck. Runs and charges the iPod and i can control a bunch of the features right from the deck. Has an AUX line too.
I have a 12v plug from 12voltguy back there for the cell phone and the iPod chord and aux cable all hide under the middle flip up cushion.
nice and clean when its down.

That is a clean looking tuck. Great job. I have been considerig doing the same stereo system that you did for the 84-88s. Did it go well for you? How was the mounting and hooking up?
