xJRich25's 85 Ext. Cab Build
Hello everyone,
So I recently purchased a 1985 Toyota Pickup. I've always had a fetish for Toyotas since owning a 96 I did a little bit to in high school.
PS- I'm a picture whore... Because I love threads with too many pictures. Sorry if you don't.
When I bought her...
When I sold her...
To this day, selling it has been one of my biggest regrets. I loved that damn truck.
Anyway, back to the point.
Here is my new purchase, picked her up for $800 from a local guy who said it hasn't ran in ten years, and he stopped driving it because he thought there was an issue with the head gasket.
I had to throw on my studded tires off my 98 Runner to get her loaded on the trailer, the old ones were shredded.
As you can she, she's not the prettiest, but we will see if I can change that.
While snooping around on YotaTech for a while before making an account, I can across Kawazx636's desmog thread, and knew that was a must do while seeing if I can get the engine to run.
The start of the tear down.
I ordered everything I need from LC Engineering, just waiting on all the block off plates and the 32/36 carb to get here.
So in the meantime, I knew I wanted to pull the fuel tank and clean out all the crap that has sat for 10 years.
My goal is to get the tank cleaned up, throw the carb and block off kits on, and get it running. That way I can find out if there really is a head gasket issue.
I work on all my own vehicles, but I have never really messed with engines too much, so this will be a first. We will find out if I have what it takes...
