The previous owner did the V6 upgrade, put in a new model steering wheel and got the AC going with a conversion never thought id see ac in an 84 haha. its got some heavily used 31s miss matched.

tomorrow
-replace stuck fan clutch (hopefully get some hp)
-remove valve cover and try to see timing chain
-pressure wash undercarriage/engine (get a fresh check on minor leaks etc)
-replace rear-pinion seal

after that...
-hopefully not a timing chain
-replace front knuckle seals
- rear wheel spacer to match the 1.5in up front

upload errors on photos (its a cell phone jpeg any ideas? (same as my avatar)

Welcome to Yotatech. Going by your avatar it is a great looking truck. Copy the [IMG] to your post and it will show up. I use Photobucket and it works great. I hear there are others out there but not sure about them.

brakes sorry.
he also had the AC converted, doesn't blow as cold as the old stuff but pretty nice in the bay area anyways. haha

he did an engine swap is there anyway to get any #'s off the engine to see if a dual timin chain will fit? im taking the valve cover off this weekend i hear a small rattle in the front and think its time for a new one.

Knuckle service kit if your tearing into the front axle.

I'd ask your manufacturer/vendor on their timing chain kit see what they say it fits.

great news~~

tore the valve cover off! had the double timing chain both guides intact and timing only off by half a chain length. so I ordered the HD double timing chain and oil pump from egnbldr.com and ordered a water pump from autozone!!! cant wait!!!

only one problem... engine still has a odd raddle til oil pressure builds up (2-6 seconds) rod knock or? also compression checked all my cylinders all 170 +/- 1-2 psi.

wanted to add pic but says too large only a small JPEG....

Use a photosharing service such as Photobucket and when you hover over your image copy the "forum code" and paste it here... that's how most people put pics in a thread...

been long long time but...

talon series superwinch 9500i
full axel service kit
2 in spring lift front/ rear
new water pump/ oil pump
double timing chain kit
new clutch and goodies
new 31inch at tires
rock sliders used but cheap
axel gussets
winch/plate bumper bracket from low range off road so I can make my square tube bumper with my winch

and all getting put together on June 1rst...

took week off of work to rip engine out and get it built by a toyta freak in Napa. and got boxes n boxes of goodies for my baby.

next yr or two maybe a 4in, hi steer, air locker in front, on board air and should be done.

can i have 2in wheel spacers in rear? I already have them up front just seems risky???

Been way to long since last posted...

Got married, seperated from Air Force moved blah blah lol.

After a yr or so of fighting the cali emissions im done! Gonna de smog it and go for weber 32/36 if anyone has a used weber I'm down. I'm saving and reading the de smog thread over and over anyways though.

Ps my alt is acting funny. It's charging battery just fine but the voltameter on my dash is always maxed out. If I let it sit for a week or two still starts right up I replaced the voltage regulator so far but new job has been working me some long hours. Anyone have some tips?

the factory gauges are not reliable. all of the gauges on my 85 do weird things.

My old 4Runner has been in the garage for almost an entire year. Got carb rebuilt and it's a pain in the butt to tune. I've checked timing, distrib and had to loosen valves a bit but dang lol... I never did weber because of money but it's looking like I might.. Plus my drivers rear wheel bearing took a dump so I just replaced all bearings, seals, brakes on both sides in rear

Well got the rear end back together and so far no leaks and the brakes seem to be going good.

for the rear do you recommend i pull the rear drums off after a few weeks and check them or should they be fine as long as no odd noises or extreme pulls etc?

As long as I dont get any issues I never have pulled the drums back off. A Weber is so much easier to work with. Not sure if it will pass the California emissions test.
