Hello, World! -- Dorj's 1984 Single Cab

Hello all,
I bought my 1984 single cab a few years ago. It had rust in the common spots on the bed but the cab was in decent condition. Here how she sat when I bought her.

Being my only vehicle I just drove it for a year and put up with the bad paint job. The 22r smoked a little and was a challenge to get up to 70 on the highway. I ended up getting a better job and bought a 2011 Taco dbl cab 4x4 to be my daily driver. I was thinking about selling the 84 for a while but just couldn't do it. So I started last December taking the truck apart for paint. I welded in new sheet metal in the rusted out spots and started sanding all the clear coat that was flaking off. I lost interest in the cold months so it sat.

I ended up selling the 2011 taco and bought a cheap civic as a beater so I could have the funds for building up my 84. The civic is having engine problems and has no AC, its hot here in OKC, so I decided to get my truck back to the living.

Being my first time painting a truck its decent I guess. It passes the 50 foot rule but any closer you can tell it was painted by someone learning. So heres how she sits now after this weekend.

My plans now are to do an engine swap, haven't decided on the flavor yet. Replacing the doors with non-vent doors and replace the rusted out tailgate. Also a Lift and new 33s or 35s and re-gearing. Also I think I may have the truck wrapped to hide my lack-luster painting skills.

Hope to see you around.
Dorj.

Looks like a solid truck you have there. As far as painting, you just got to jump in and do it. Finding a good tail gate in this part of the country and be difficult. I use to be OKC alot and always enjoyed it there. Welcome to Yotatech.
