85 Yota Build
Well i picked up an "86" toyota on craigslist about a month ago. After digging into it it was obvious everything underneath was from an 85. The guy i bought it from had no idea what he had, most of the work was done by his dad (mechanic) or at a shop. Here is a quick run down on what was done when i bought it:
5" tg springs (stock shackles)
35 BFG M/T's
22re swapped (50k miles)
gutted w/ newer 60/40 bench
30 inch light bar
Bobbed bed 12 inches (Done right)
Detroit Locker in the rear (open front)
of course straight axle
yukon 5.29's f/r
doug thorley header
deezee tool box
here is a quick list of what i have done:
XO Fab rock Sliders w/ bumps
Creeper breather
curved 24 inch light bar
amber led pods
Ford 6x9 speakers
Alpine Type S 4" speakers
2 Pioneer 10" subs
hopefully everyone will enjoy this thread, i will keep posted on small issues i run into and how i solve them.
If anyone needs explanation on how to do something that i have done just give me a shout out!
hopefully this will help everyone else out there with their builds and solving issues they run into!
feel free to post any questions you may have

went on my first run to copper creek and on the way home my truck was cutting out over every little bump in the road. Also, before that it wouldn't stay idling at a cold start, it needed some help getting going.
so for the cut out issue,
im not sure which of the two it was, but the distributor sensor was loose, and the kill switch was kinda loose. so i tightened both of those up real good, took it down the road and she was fine.
for the idle issue,
obviously the cs injector. after getting it off it was gunked up like a mofo. so i took some cleaner to it, polished her up for a good ten minutes, reconnected it, let it sit for about a day, went out and started her up just fine.
also, i had to do a tune up because the fourth wire was damn near split in two and it was cutting out and running like crap. turns out the 1st plug was toast.
now she is running like a top

well i got bored today and took the Toyota for a drive around town and realized i need some more speakers in it!
So, i gathered up two Ford 6x9's that i have from my F-250 (i put Kicker speakers in the Ford) and wired them into the Toyota. and holy crap it's loud now!
Altogether it's only two 6x9's and two Alpine 4's but it sounds great. I also re-mounted my CB and radio to the dash because they kept coming loose in the old setup. I also had to rewire all the speakers because the dude before me used duck tape instead of butt connectors. It's all looking solid now though!
I took some pictures during the install and will attach them to this post.
(the pics were before the wire clean up & tucking)

alright new update for the day, i am buying an alpine type-r (SWR-1242D) 12 inch subwoofer that comes in a box as well as an alpine (MRV-M500) 500 watt mono amp that comes with a wiring kit.
gotta love craigslist! all-in-all, 500 dollar setup for hopefully around 170 bucks. then my stero system will be complete.
still waiting on the bumper to get here, once the bumper comes in i will weld on the rock sliders.

i have a bezel, i had it off for the picture because the CB and stereo push it out and don't let it clip all the way in, so i plan to cut it and re mount it. I have my light bar switch where the cigarette lighter would usually go.

Well for anyone who follows my thread I had quite the day,,,
I hit Elbe Hills hard and did really well (i.e. didn't get stuck lol) . three things on the day:
1. Front driver and passenger inner axle seals are toast. i had gear oil all over my passenger side front wheel. oh well, 30 bucks just got me some marlin crawler Eco Seal inner axle seals, so im not complaining much.
2. I NEED TO CUT MY FENDERS. lol and roll them, i got sick of hearing the rubbing.
3. A wire from the light bar shorted after i got home and started a nice little fire under the hood, so needless to say i need to rewire my CB, stereo, power and remote wire to my subs, and my light bar
could've been worse, only accessory wire melted, and i can still drive the truck, i am just radio, light bar and CB-less. (but wiring is not fun to me.)
I will make sure to throw some pics up of the inner axle seal install and the re-wiring.

I ended up backing out of the deal, i had a buddy who was getting rid of his old setup for sub/amp and got that for free so i had to do that instead. not bad though, two pioneer 10's.
