1984' 1uz 5speed 4Runner fiberglass build up
My 4Runner has been a good truck! I bought it with a 3" lift. It had tube bumpers and a knocking engine. I put a 22r I had laying around in it and sucked in some water. So then I bought a 83' celica EFI 22re and harness/ECU. That really woke the truck up and made it a lot more controlable offroad and gave me a much better miles per gallon. Found a parts truck, scored the double transfercase with 4.7 gearset in one and 2.28 in the other. E-locker for the front, detroit locker rear, cross over steering, longfields, rear disc brakes and a bud built crossmember. I put the grill and headlights off my first toyota truck, it was a 1980'. Finished that all up last winter/spring.
Decided I want to do a Bit more...
So at the begining of the year, I knew I had some tax money coming back. So I pulled the trigger on a set of Hi-Clearance fiberglass quarter panels, door skins, tailgate skin, front fenders, L brackets on the topper, and the rear inner panels.
Then I started looking into more power. 1uzfe was the answer I settled on. Now I own 2 engines 2 ecus and one and a half wire harnesses and an auto tranny for one. One is 135k miles with fresh waterpump/timing. Other is 152k miles with the same fresh parts. Both from 92' SC400.
So the 22re was sold.
Still figuring out parts.
Front fenders were chucked, doors removed, top off, interior stripped for rollcage and no motor, it sits on 35x15.5 swamper SX on 32 bolt beadlock rims waiting for build time!
The rear tire came loose at 65 mph! -junk aluminum rims
More soon!

Build week!
Its my week off so this bad boy is going to get completely blasted and prepd for new metal and the fiberglass. Buying up a couple rolls of poly to build the second garage into a paint booth! Still have not settled on a color but I figure worry about the body work first and by then I'll have a better Idea of the color.
Also picking up the tube bender from work to build some rock rails, and maybe a rear bumper. Need to pickup more steel for the cage, more sheet metal for wheelhouses and custom front inner fenders. Its Awn!!!
Pics and progress soon!

3m 08115 panel bonder for the quarters, door skins and tailgate skin!
Going to be blasting the rest today, then start replacing metal tomorrow!
Needs body mounts so after most of the body is repaired, body is coming off for a full enderbody blast and a coat of Por 15!
Bottom 10" of all body will be with Por 15. Sure its going to weigh a bit more but... This truck will live a long time!

Marlin has body mounts on backorder so I am going to wait on that action for a bit. They say a week or so.
Everything I blasted yesterday needs a quick touchup again today since it got rained on just a sprinkle or two...
I keep looking at it thinking its way too high, even with the V8 in it. After the testfit with the new body, I want to lower the truck 4" while keeping a flat bottom center. Thats not going to be easy and I will have to build a custom oilpan but I believe it will be will well worth it!!
While all this is going on I am also planning to use a set of rubicon express front Longarms and either airshocks or coilovers. I really liked what they did for my old XJRubicon. I'll have to take some measurements and see if I can make it work before I pull the trigger on that one though.
Off to the store for supplies!

Found a pic of the day I bought it!
On with the build!
Picked up a quart and a pint of:
2 coats in the doors!
Quarters:
Had to retire the old junk wire feed. Picked up a Millermatic 211!
Now we can start getting serious!
Didn't get the quarter panels on like I planned but I am a lot closer. Got a lot of the puzzle pieces in place this week. Getting the new welder was one of the huge things holding up the Body and Cage work.
Going to be chopping off the front clip and building new. Front bumper ties in with the rollcage and through to the back.
This build will be finished before the end of March.

that looks good man. I like that you're flaring the wheel wells hard... and hopefully tubing the front.... get low bro get low!
This dude from canada is rockin' 35" on his 02' Taco with zero lift... I'm glad that you're cognizant of your goal end height.
