This is going to be a frame off restoration. I just got back from southwest Georgia with her. It's a 1980 RN47 with original engine and trans. Engine has some minor modifications but I have the factory parts to return to stock. Another one rescued from the hands of the scrappers and chop artists out there. I've put my 87 Frankenstein build on hold to put all my time and efforts into this beauty. I will be posting tons of pics and welcome all criticism. With the help of my fellow Yotatech members, I hope to make this a build we can all enjoy. Tony

Door panels will need new backings. Floor needs some work as well

PO installed a new distributor, rebuilt head, intake, Weber carb and starter and electric fuel pump.

I washed a couple hundred pounds of Georgia clay off but I'm gonna have to take it up to the pressure washer to get it really clean. I was very surprised to find no rusted thru areas on the frame even between the tank and frame. Tony

I was scrolling, anticipating a post about having lots of rust, looks like you were in luck. My truck also is from Georgia (according to PO) and it got driven up to IL luckily it hasn't ever been driven in Chicago salty winters so I don't have much rust either. Stoked to see your build!

What's the significance of the "rn47"? I've heard it's a sport model, but perhaps you can shed some definition to it

47 is the 4x4 and 37 is the 2wd. I picked up a air cleaner housing for my 87 btw. Did you end up selling that 22r yet? The guy in Georgia that I got this 1980 from is looking for a 22r. Let me know. Tony

Not much to report on just yet. I've been tracking electrical issues and making repairs where needed. This is NOT my strong suit. Also working on titling the rig here in Florida. Had the sheriff's office come out to do a VIN verification. All clear. Time to order some parts. Tony

I was able to find that I need another dimmer switch. I had a couple others but one was broken and the other from the tilt column doesn't fit. Add that to my parts needed list. Tony

Got her registered and insured today. Now I can drive it to the pressure washer and back and forth to my shop while I get some small repairs done.

Got the dimmer switch replaced today along with fixing the dash lights (I bypassed the rheostat for now). Also wired up the hot hand and a new positive lug to the battery for the wiring harness. I had a dim drivers headlight but found it wasn't grounded. Took her for a quick drive. Def time to work on the brakes. Tony

So only a couple auto parts store has the drums for the rear brakes. Just so happens they are both made in china so I returned them. I called the dealership and they can have them in a week. The catch is, they are $170 each. I think I'm going to clean these up for now and use them til I get new ones before final assembly of the truck. They are still within spec as long as I don't turn them. I was really hoping to be able to drive her this weekend but I'm soaking all the brake parts that I'm not replacing overnight to clean them. Also dug out the bushing kit and came across an extra transport and tow hook for the truck. I'm gonna install the two piece door windows in it rather than the single glass. Why auto manufacturers ever did away with the wing windows is a mystery to me. Tony
