That mirage is a gem! And the way you obtained it is just as great. I got 4 of my 1st gens off craigslist also. I (We) need an intervention. I obtained my trekker by just asking also. and 3 years later I received a phone call. How many miles does the Mirage have? lets see some inside pictures!

It came from Virginia Beach area not far from you...the interior is in good shape, no cracks in dash,
carpet will be replaced, one seat needs recovering but the rest is great. Its got just over 100k on the Odom and runs great, it was well maintained by original owner thankfully. How about some pics of your other 1 st gens?...your trekker looks great!

I have seen your other two trucks and this one will make a nice additon to your collection. The best looking truck to me is an original truck and you have some nice examples. Glad to see it has a good home. Wouldn't it be sweet if that was the truck they used for the commercial. I did see somewhere on another brand of car that some one got one and restored it that was used on a sales brochure. Stranger things have happened.

If so, WOW I hope the deal goes through.

I bought one of those years ago. It was in rough shape to say the least, but it did have the Mirage decals on the bottom like in the pics. I also remember it having a placard mounted on the dash by the glovebox saying "Mirage Edition". They are definitely cool.
I know of one currently in Eastern Shore, MD. A guy I used to work with lives across the street from the guy who owns it. It's a small little boating community and he told me that has been there for years. I was thinking about asking him to knock on the door and see if the guy would sell it, but I have too much going on with my '82 mini and '72 FJ40. My stables are full.

now that its back on top .. There was also a Canadian edition .
In 1982 , in Canada there was only 500 and they are all # plated . I believe it WAS a Toyota limited edition . If you look at the chrome tail lamps , and the original low mount chrome mirrors , they are Japanese manufactures , Port installed pieces , and dealer pieces , are always "North American " made .
USA I think copied it for there dealers .
I had a customer in contact with me for many years about restoring his . I offered many times to buy it , and he said he would never .. well , life got in the way , and I bought it . I will be restoring it .
even started to hoard some rare parts ..

I'm only the 5th owner , I have contacted the 3rd owner whom owned it for 33 years . I have a bunch of "provenance" now as he still had a bunch of receipts for it , he thinks he still has some of the original parts as well , so we'll see about that . I know the name of the second owner , and doing a search for him . I hope he knows the original owner ! . I know where the truck was originally purchased from , but unfortunately , they do not have any records anymore
