Anyone replaced those skinny OEM tires on 2010 T4R Limited? Would 275/60R20 fit ok without lift/spacers/trimming required?

You'll be going from about a 31.5" to a 33" also.

The 275-55-20 tires will increase the height of the vehicle off the ground slightly. The big question is will they fit a factory 7" wide rim.

Some more tires that fit factory diameter, but WILL require a non factory rim width.

Thanks for the info! I'm only considering factory rims (20x7) at this time. Do you know if 275/55 20 can be mounted on 7 inch rims?

General Tire brand's 275-55-20 specs says they will fit correctly on a 20x7 rim. You'll have to test fit one, inflate to correct psi. If the tread on top is flat you're ok.

If not flat but almost flat, you could always drop psi to 32psi and that may help the tire sit flat if it's bowing. I've done that to help make a wider tire fit a narrower rim. It worked out ok. But when you reduce psi to help it stay flat you loose handling, gain play in steering.

If choosing a General Brand tire, be aware they have 2 models of tire. UHP and HTS I think. One is less quiet with better traction and the other is very quiet but you give up traction.

I didn't find another brand tire with specs to fit a 20x7. Most require a 7.5 or 8.0 for minimum width depending on the strength of the side wall I believe.

It sounds like you really want the 275 tire. You can go with the General then. Manufacture guarantees it will fit correctly and I've seen them in person, the sidewalls look softer so I guess you would be ok. The sides will bow out quite a bit, but sometimes that looks good too, and prevents rims from getting scratched on curbs.

You have me wondering... I really wanted 275's. If you can imagine pulling the 245-60-20 sidewall in 1\2"+ tighter inward from both sides (1-1/8" total) more than they are now on the factory rim, that's what the fit will look like with 275's pulled tight with factory 20x7 rims.

The perfect tire is a 265-55-20 but can't find it anywhere.

I'd love to see what what the 275-55-20's looks like on the rim.

If the 275-55-20's don't sit properly, and you want the 275 width, you should be ok with 275-60-20's with a diameter of 33". The taller tire will have a taller sidewall to bend in at less of an angle. You're going to gain height with the 60 profile though. Only negative is more stress on the breaks with increased height. Just a backup if the 275-55-20 doesn't work out.

Wider tires will likely decrease traction with all other factors being equal.

I only recently placed an order so don't have the truck yet... but based on the test drive, it feels very solid, also bigger and taller compared to my '99 4R. I just can’t believe they put 20 inch wheels with such narrow tires on the limited…

Looking at the specs of different tire brands in 265-55-20 all require 7.5 rim minimum... same story with 275-55-20. I saw on the other forum someone installed 275-55-20 nitto terra on the factory rims... looks great but what is the risk going below man. recommended or approved rim width???

In my experiences, you may void the warranty on the tires. In addition, some tires shops won't work on it.

Risks.
Putting Toyota warranty issues aside which only affects specific area of warranty.

Risks if tires don't sit correctly are premature wear, reduced performance, pulling, rubbing in the fender, balancing problems, bowing, uneven tread wear, extra noise, ect... Driving the vehicle will be very unpleasant if it's a bad fit as tires wear.

Continental and General brands specs state they will fit and perform correctly on a 7" wide rim and are covered by the tire manufacture warranty.

Correct. But there are some manufactures that make specs for 20x7 rims. If not in the manufacture specs they could and have denied installations. They won't deny install with the 2 brands that approve this rim size on fit, but could deny based on that it's not factory spec. I've had tire dealers send me on my way telling me tires won't fit with out trying.
