Disengaging 4WD with engine off
So my wife is the primary driver of our 2011 4Runner SR5. 20,000 miles. She had it in 4Hi on her way to work. Parked, shut off engine. Then, pushed 4WD lever back up to 2WD mode with engine off. Left it parked the whole day. Came out, started, and couldn't even put it into reverse. Apparently required some time and a bit of force to get it into reverse (as the story was being relayed to me, my blood pressure was about to kill me). Had a hard time getting it into drive as well. Check enginer light comes on, as well as the ATRAC light in the dash (the icon with skidmarks behind the car).
Then today, check engine light goes off and the ATRAC light goes off. My question is: anybody know what happened? Any damage? Should I get it checked out? I mean, there are no warning lights on now, so what exactly would a technician diagnose at this point? If no engine light, no code to diagnose, right?
