2010 4runner on the Rubicon Trail...
I found this and thought it was pretty cool! I know it's not an 89-95 4runner, but I didn't know what other section to post it in...I couldn't post any bigger pictures because the original copies are huge but there are full size pictures in the write up just follow the write up. I can't believe they are going through this much trouble for the new 4runner, only like two people may actually use it like this lol.

NICE. i personally don't like the streamline and bubbly looking designs of cars made within the last 10 years(even my 2000 is a little too rounded) or so but this new 4Runner looks pretty sweet

I've seen some of these in action already, and yeah guy's are already starting to go mod crazy, found some SAS's online already too, they really got the 4wd system pretty good onthese from the factory now, VSC and Elockers help in situations

I have that issue of Fourwheeler with the bigger pics. They took off the camo before the ride.
The 4Runner chief engineer made the trip from japan and was the one beating the living hell out of it harder than anyone else (including running at speed into a mud puddle he knew there was a nasty rock in, just to test the skid plates and cross member).
The editors were extremely impressed by the truck, which will be part of their Four Wheeler of the Year testing.

Yes, these things went through many, many miles of off-road hell without one noteworthy issue - Big Bear Lake-CA, MOAB, Rubicon, etc. They had rock sliders and stock size Goodyear MT-R's as the only modsOur only failure was at the Hammers. Stock trucks do not belong there from a ground clearance stand point, but it was not without a ton of effort and abuse. We got 400 feet in about 4 hours (to the "ball-lickers" sign for those who have been there) before we admitted defeat. We needed to find the limit somehow.
FWIW, the exact truck in the 3rd pic in the original post is the one that was built for the Baja 1000. The Baja build kept all of the original from the above testing including drivetrain, powertrain, and suspension parts (excluding shocks).

I'm guessing these photos are long gone (online, at least. Got 503 error). But if anyone has a working link, I'd be grateful. With thanks!
