I think the trail version is nicer than any 4th gen, possibly any 3rd gen too. The apperance is so-so. Interior BS like the airbags, pull-out tray, etc make it a little harder to like. I enjoy simple interiors; IMO more crap = more broken crap. Plus big dogs (my great dane) need all the verticle head room possible in the back. I think I would just strip everything out from behind the front buckets, leaving only what make sense like the power outlets. But I'm not planning on getting one. My brother however is actually thinking about getting one after his 95 got destroyed... http://www.vimeo.com/6448630
I'm excited to see what the aftermarket brings to the table! Why is the trail only available in silver and black? Or is that just my zip (63108)?

Hate to break it to ya, but they probably won't come out with an airbag-free version haha. But i hear you.

Dear Toyota Corporation
I am a very dedicated fan of the Toyota 4runner and an active member of the forum www.yotatech.com which is one of the largest North American websites for off-road Toyota vehicles. I think that you have done an excellent job with the new, Trail-Edition 2010 4runner. It is very well-designed, fast, has good fuel economy and the off-road capabilities are highly impressive. Thank you for the locking rear differential and crawl control! There is one element that is highly disappointing however and this is the lack of a manual transmission option. For many of us on the forum, the option of having manual transmission is a significant and deciding issue. The Tacoma and FJ Cruiser have this option and I believe that it would be a very useful addition to the 4runner line. Currently we are all restricted to 4runners up to the year 2000, when the last manual 4runner was made.
Thank you for your kind consideration of the request of adding the manual transmission option to the 2010 4runner trail-edition.
Sincerely yours with appreciation-
(name here)

Where's the email I can send to? 5spd manual is also a deciding factor for me, automatics are a PITA to drive.

Yeah, it would be nice if they offered the 5spd in the 5th gens. Also offering the V8 too would be nice and it would probably attract more buyers.

if the 2010 4runner has a 5-6 speed, I'd buy one.

Does anyone know why they don't even have the option for Xenon headlights? I could understand only having the halogens standard on the SR5, but you'd think that the Limited (and its $40k price tag) would merit some Xenons.

I think a manual transmission is unlikely. Given the considerable electronic controls, such as crawl control, I think that the manual transmission would likely add one too many variables to control, and potentially impossible to control.

That said, dump crawl control for a manual transmission and it's probably a good trade-off.

Any 5th gen owners have any feedback on the "Party Button" yet? That would be a selling point for me

Party Mode

IMO this is one of the silliest things. Party Mode just routes more sound through the tailgate speakers and greatly reduces it everywhere else. It appears mainly to be for tailgating parties. Why they did not incorporate it into the radio somewhere and had to have a separate button is beyond me, or even why they did it.

It's called fader. Pull the balance knob to adjust the sound from the front or rear speakers.

Yes I still have my original 1990 4runner stereo deck.
