Ya I had a '94 4runner on 33's with ifs lift and like the height, even though this will actually be more like 5in front what I've heard. It is going to be my daily also for about a couple years, so wanna keep it low for now. Don't drive much or far anyways. Will go bigger later on (of course), but for now we'll see how this turns out...

its a beautiful sight. a 4runner fully built on a trailer pulled by a new toyota is depressing to anyone who cant afford it.

Sounds like a nice build. I think the 3inch springs will not work well for you...especially if you ever put a winch up front.

I see you have a 22RE, so it may be ok for a while. I just bought some 5inch springs because my 4in ones have gone flat with the addition of a bumper and winch.

Marc P you are saying that a 3vze bumper and winch will be too much for the 3inch springs? do you feel with the larger springs your tires will appear too small?

Not really, they will settle. If it is real bad I can remove a leaf also.

Here is how mine looks now...I figure the 5inch springs will pick up the front about 2 inches

Man that truck is tall right now and you plan to go taller?

I had 4" TG springs up front with 35" and I think my truck is TALLLL. I'm moving up to 38"-40" Iroks and 4+" wider axles and plan to lower my truck at the same time. Some will happen of course.

I want to stick with the 33's though, and I won't be able to afford a bumper and winch anytime soon anyways

But seriously? IMO I think your rig is too tall with the 33's, at least for what I want. But it is something to consider, thanks...

That pic is before I added the 80lb winch. I also have nothing in the back. I usually carry my tools and recovery gear

Mine is not very tall....just that pic makes it look big

this may give a better perspective

SAS 4Runners all look tall. it's just the nature of an SUV. being as narrow as Toyotas are doesn't help either. the TG 3" springs usually run tall, from what i've seen. i've also read that they have the second highest spring rate of all the TG springs too (5" HDs are first). if you really want it to be low get a set of springs made, go the JY route, or pull some leaves. pulling leaves is going to kill your spring rate, custom springs are going to be costly, and JY springs are kind of a trial and error thing.

i've found that the 5" HDs are perfect for my rig. they sit a little taller than i'd like to be (26" frame height on 35s) but the spring rate is perfect (i like to pre-run/go-fast a little too), shackle angle is perfect, and they hold up to the V6 weight and my heavy bumper.

whatever you do, good luck. it's going to be tough to get the best of both worlds, but i'm sure with enough research and tinkering you'll find something. maybe look into a stock front spring with some leaves added?

You should pick up some gussets for the knuckles. I recommend them highly and nows the best time during the swap to put them in. Just a suggestion but other than that its looking good

Question 6 speed tranny

Did I read correctly that UK Meyers is putting a 6 speed transmission in to his 2006 Tacoma? This is my first response. I am looking for a thread or site that has information to help me transform my 2003 tacoma to be more fuel efficient Thanks Georgedog.

Many ways to do so but first welcome and second search some. I dont know if its been done so I wont really say to much about that tranny swap but i dont really see that as a mod to take care of fuel efficiency. Intake and exhaust first then maybe a few other things.

And when the axle is apart or out is the best time of all to add them. take it form 4runnerkid cause he used to not have them now he does and theres plenty of reasons why too have them and why he added them second time around
