Cool streetlancer's 1987 Pickup Build-Up Thread

Although I'm a little late for this, considering the mods done already, I'll do it anyways.
Better late, than never!!

Here's the first one: (Obviously not the first mod, just the first one documented.)

Courtesy Light installation from a 4runner!!

and don't forget the bracket......it's held in by 2 bolts under the headliner:

First, this is what it looked like before...

after removing that i was fishing for the wiring and......ta da. I found i was already prewired for BOTH, which is great because it means i'll have more lighting.

After sliding the bracket in place and securing it with the two screws it was time to cut into the headliner...

I cut small xs into it and enlarged until it fit snug. (It took a couple of tries, i wanted the headliner nice and taut.)

And just because i like pictures:

Here i got the mirror back on and wiring the map light....

Trying them on (notice how tight the headliner is)...

Final product:

I chose not to use the plastic cover over the bulb as it originally came:

Now it's time for some leds!!

Thumbs up

Wow is EVERYTHING red? Looks like you take nice care of it. I like the engine compartment- looks nice and clean. Wants bigger tires though, doesn't it?

Yeah, the red came from the earlier days when me and my bro were younger and wanted a racecar. Originally it was gonna be a lowrider,LOL, but ever since we found this website the plans have changed!!

You're right about those tires;too small. We might soon upgrade the front two to 31x10.5x15 GY Authoritys. The rear are pretty much new.

The guy before me had replaced the washer fluid sprayers (on the hood) with aftermarket ones that have red LEDs in them. In CT that's a stupid reason to be pulled over, and I'm not into that, so I've been thinking about swapping them out (or just cutting the leads). Anyway, if you are interested in swapping let me know they'd probably look pretty sweet on your rig.

I agree, I can't wait to see bigger tires.
What other plans do you have in the works?

Well, plans are:

mild body & susp. lift to accommodate 33s
4.88s with lockers
Sliders, Rear Tube Bumper with Spare Tire Carrier, Front Bumper with Winch
Budbuilt Skids
Yakima Roof Rack
Auxiliary Lights
And so on......

But it'll be a while before all this begins (still in highschool/ no money). That's why is not much of a build up more like a mod up. Right now the focus is tires, BL, and paint

Check these pics out:

Candy Apple Red!! Sprayed it in the back yard, i'm surprised no bugs stuck to it!!

And Just Because There are No Pics of the Truck in My Own Thread:

I've been experimenting with rustoleum paint after reading a couple of roll-on paint threads. It seems like a possible candidate considering a base/clear system will run me about $400 plus supplies and tools.
The results:
This was sprayed on with a paint gun/not roll on

Not bad. So far, it has been sitting outside for a month exposed to the elements and still looks fresh. If I end up going this way, it will only be temporary and eventually will get a b/c paint.

I just bought a pair of those brown seats you have. They don't fit my 86' single cab. Don't line up very well. Time for custom mounts.

Mine didn't fit perfectly either, I had to massage them with hammer a little.

Update: Tinted the X-tra cab glass
I figured I'd get a better fit if i took the glass out and so I did:

These came out perfect, not a single bubble!!

Also these arrived at the house,

And went in here:

Dropped it a good 2'' and i can still go a 1/2'' lower
I took the old springs, which measured 11'', and installed those on the truck's leafpack to give me 1'' of lift!! Ill take pics of that soon!!

I went with the darkest possible, 5%, for the back. I need to do the ones on the doors, but Ill go with something a little lighter.

Yeah, the key is lots of soapy water and you got to keep wiping it with the squeegee until dry..

Ok, here are the pics of zuk mod with celica front springs...

I also put the tailgate back on after a year of being tailgateless...
