hi my name is Brian, ive been surfing this board for a while and decided it was time to make a build thread for my 4runner.

Its and 88 4cyl 5spd runner, i bought it pretty much stock, except for a 3 in. BL and 32 muds terrains. After a while of wheeling it in hollister and other places i decided it was time for a SAS so this pics of my SAS are below.

The SAS was done about a year and a half ago, ill post up the recent progress soon

The specs for my SAS build up are:
Trail gear front and rear 5in. lift kit, SAS
5.29s with assuie lockers front and rear
bobby longs up front
high steer
Marlin front bumper
35 pro comp muds

heres the drive way shot the day it came home

axle from an 83

cleaned up and truss mocked up

axle completly rebuilt and ready for installation

here are some pics from its maiden voyage down in hollister hills. its was a great day, testing out my truck. it flexs some much. the lockers proved themselves worth the money in the mud and rocks. i almost rolled it, but i was lucky and the tree hit my topper and kept me from rolling. pucker factor was about a ten.

the next mod i did was retro fit a Jeep bikini top onto my 4runner. i spent about $40 buck total. $20 for the used bikini top. $20 for new jeep soft top rails. then i had some angle iron laying around so i bolted the soft top rails to the angle iron then bolted it to the stock holes on the runner and then strapped the bikini over the roll. works great esp. for only $40.

then i bought some TG rock sliders. they work awesome, they hold up to everything i run them into.

How do you like the TG springs after a year and a half? Curious if they have settled much. Truck flexes great..

TG springs are great. after breaking them in they havent settled more or started to sag yet, which is awesome. and they flex a lot.

ill post some more pics of the bumper later today ill have to take some close up pics.

i also just finished installing my dual cases, so ill post some pics of that project as well.

Good deal, I have a set of TG front springs I need to get on and maybe next year will get some rears..Cool about the dual cases...I have the extra case and the mounts, just need the adapter and get the shafts done... Fingers are crossed for that by the end of the year...

Alright here are the pics of my dual transfer case install
the specs are
2 top shifting T-case's w/stock gearing.
trail gear dual adapter
trail gear cross member
23 spline input shaft in the rear case

truck in garage ready for instal

donor case wich will have the 23 spline input shaft installed into

donor case rebuilt, and stock case ready for diassembly

i finally found the reason why my stock case was always leaking a little bit. good thing i used the donor case for the rear.

after bolting up the trasfer case to the tranny, i pulled both seats out for room to cut the tranny tunnel for the rear tcase shifter to come up through.

i measured the distance the front t-case shifter moved when shifting. then used those measurments to cut the new hole for the rear shifter.

the placement of the hole was perfect i didnt have to move my center console at all, just had to unbolt the cup holders from the front of it, wich i will relocate somewhere else.

seats back in and shifter boot on. the install came out great, and nice a clean.

so when it gets a little warmer and sunny here in nor-cal im gona do a rattle can paint job on my runner, the silver is starting to look pretty hagard. its all scratched and oxidizing and fading also theres some gray primer spots from my bondo work.

so i need to choose a color, anyone have a good idea for a unique rattle can job.

im thinking i want to go with a flat color, dessert tan maybe. i like the safari look. i dont want to do olive drab for sure though, too many people have done that around here.

i finally painted my truck. i used krylon rust tough battleship grey spraypaint. all i did was sand it with a dual action sander, did a little bondo and sprayed on the paint. it took about six cans, and came out pretty good for just spray paint. i also put on some $15 wal mart rock lights.
