Trekker vs. Cummins Cj-5
If you guys could give us some input it would be greatly appreciated!
My grandpa has an 81 Cj-5 stock. He is about to retire and we are looking for a project. His plan was to do a 4bt swap and chop down full size axles and a locker in the rear, and run about a 33 inch tire.
Now the problem is, there is a 1981 Toyota trekker for sale local. Comes with spare engine. Small lift (maybe) and sitting on pretty new 33s. Runs good. Very clean body. Would need a little all around work to be perfect. For sale for $3200.
Me being the Toyota guy I am would like to see him get the trekker. But he is on the fence about what to build. He is planning on having a rig that will be good 4wd if needed for snow, and forest service roads. And it be capable of driving down the freeway or into town if he wants. Any advice or input on either rigs? Thanks for your time.
