02 Civic Misfire
Well, with the girlfriend moving in recently, one of the responsibilities I took on was the maintenance and upkeep of my girlfriend's 02 Civic 2 door EX.
When she moved out to SoCal from Texas I noticed a random misfire while driving. Couldn't pinpoint conditions that were making it happen (ie: certain RPM's, throttle position, etc..) so I was stumped.
A couple weeks ago it threw some codes and gave me P0300, 301, 302, and 303 which is random misfire on cylinders 1 through 3.
It needs to be smogged so I figured I'd try the cheapest things first. Today I started with the spark plugs.
I believe these are the original plugs from the factory. If so they have 103K miles on them.
The rest of the car is pretty nice but I can tell the previous owner wasn't fond of preventative maintenance. It needs brake pads and struts up front. Plus it looks like it could use a brake and clutch fluid flush.
Not to mention the timing belt job that's coming up in 7K miles. That's going to be fun.
If you got through that long story, and have gone through a similar issue with your Civic, what else would you try replacing to solve the misfire issue?
