anyone? i am getting into freestlye jet skiing. i ride a 93 superjet and the only mod i have are footholds for now. the almost pros that i ride with are impressed that i can do what i can with a stock ski. this is a pic of me doing a side sub...u cant really see me cause im underwater

I'd love to get in to that.....I wakeboard and slalom a good bit, I've only ridden a real jet ski a couple of times....

I love jet-skiing but never owned one. Can't justify the cost for how much I would be able to use it.

these things are only around 1k bucks, for me i have never lost money on a ski, the first ones i bought for 300 each and i sold each of them for 1k than i bought each of my superjets for 800, so in the end it only cost me 100 bucks per ski, when i sell them i will be making 900 bucks per ski

I've never used a true stand up Jet Ski but I love to bum my friends wave runners whenever I get the chance. They are a blast offshore in the surf. A little too expensive for me and they are always breaking down. Remember these are 2/3 seaters that cost a wee bit more then a Jet Ski.

I ride a 750 sxi, with worx maxiloader intake grate, worx extended ride plate, watercraft factory head, wiseco pistons, custom recessed freestyle footholds.
I wanted to paint it kawi racing green, and install a freestyle handlepole, but will probably end up selling before the summer gets here, and break down and buy a newer superjet, or an 800sxr. I've been riding standups for about 15 years! Thats my 86 CJ7 in the background. It needs a new valve cover and a good cleaning!

I have a 2005 Kawasaki Jet Ski Stx 12f ( I think that's it) It's a 3 seater, but it's pretty quick (around 55MPH) Good power, too. Used to have another of the same, but an 06(sold it). Those things seem to have problems with the motors blowing, though. Both of ours did, and with less than 150 hours on them....so we're going a little easier on them. Also have a SeaDoo, I'm not sure what kind it is, but it's an early 2000's model.

I also have two sea-doo gtx 3 seaters, one 02 and one 98 that run in the low 50's great for pulling a tube or hydro slide!

My latest project! 1991 JS440 hull and pump in mint condition, almost as if time forgot it over the years, with a brand spankin new race ready custom built 550sx engine. I'm waiting on some warm weather so I can break her in. This is gonna be my flat water cruiser!

I've always heard that stand up jet skis aren't easy to ride. Is this true? Ive been thinking about getting a pair and want stand up but don't want to waste money on something I wont be able to ride.

The older js hulls are challenging because of the small hull design. My advice is learn on an old school kawi js hull, and you will be able to ride any stand-up lol. I have an 05 kawi 800sxr and its not much of a challenge at all compared to the js hull, but boy is she fast!! here is a couple pics of my js in the water. Our jack russell loves to ride too!

Ride an 89 650sx. Only mod is a ride plate. My sister and bro in law have a house on the delaware river, so my ski spends most its time on their dock. Since I'm in Maryland.

I learned on my cousin's 83 JS550 back in the 80's. I bought it from him and still have it. Haven't rode it in years...needs a motor because one of the original motor's crank shaft bearings went. When the motor went, my cuz towed me back with his boat...I was jet ski water skiing. That was an absolute blast until I was leaning and realized I couldn't throttle out of it and wiped it big time. I then bought a used motor that had a 440 crankcase with a full circle crank and an aftermarket reed valve block (WestCoast I believe) with dual 38's that I ran for awhile. I still have everything. Parts is parts.

Also have a 91 550SX that is collecting dust in the shed. Man, talking about this is bringing back some great memories of riding to Captain Kidd's/Mickey Rats in Angola, NY on Lake Erie south of Buffalo in the great summers we have in WNY. I came up with a saying when I started to ride stand ups and the sit downs ("tuna boats") made their appearance: "Stand to P...stand to ride."

trb1977, nice ski you have there. Dig the 80's neon colors on the head and pipe (and hose)...nice tail spin...trb is right, if you learn on a JS hull you can ride just about anything...Except a 650X2. Those things are harder to ride than a JS. Wipe out away from shore and it's challenging to get going again as anyone who has ridden one knows. You have to grab the handlebars from the back, balance it, get it started and then pull yourself up...give me my JS back. I never rode a newer one or a Superjet but I'd like to. Always heard the SeaDoo Hx's were fun to ride as well as the Yamaha Waveblaster.

Ahhhh the jet ski's how I miss my xp nice pics on the stand ups I always wanted one but here in colorado the water sucks unless you make a weekend out of it. I finally bit the bullet and sold it due to the cost and not enough close good lakes that weren't packed with SPORES. I do miss it though I guess if I ever relocated I'm sure I would want another one.

I have had more js 550's than I care to count Really miss riding a stand-up as all I have left now is a mint 96 xp with some mods. Really looking for a superjet after I get all the other projects done( jeep, 4 runner, sell more stuff,etc) But for now I spend more time on the family wakeboard boat than my ski anyway

I rode a 96 wave blaster for about 10 years at lake mead. I could do alot of tricks. I miss that ski. 2013 is the last year for 2 stroke engines in lake powell, mead, and mohave.

BUMP! Ive been around skis all my life. I bought a 88 X2 back when I was 16, and now I ride a 2010 Superjet set up for flatwater (foot holds, b-pipe, -7 xmetal pole, lowered hood etc). If yall wanna learn more about freestyle, freeride etc on stand ups I would suggest the forum X-h2o!
