Ural gear-up (two wheel drive w/sidecar)
I am thinking about getting a two wheel drive ural gear-up. Does anyone have any experience with these or maybe a story to share?

I have no personal experience with Ural motorcycles other than being a fan of their classic looks. I've got a few friends who've been into motorcycles for 40+ years and many say you will basically need to re-build the bike once you get it and make sure that every nut/bolt is torqued tight (and actually there!) before even thinking of driving it. So even though you might think it's HD, based on the military past and rugged design, but I'd guess one could assume the build quality within the factory is not on par with the competition from other manufacturers.
BUT, the old guys do say they will last you quite a while once you make sure it won't fall apart on you since they are such a simple design and easy to fix.

Good advice on retorquing everything. I love the classic looks as well. And the powered wheel sidecar. I have a friend who worksat a shop that sells them (raceway services). I would probably only be riding it on weekends and summer weekdays and the occasional long trip down the coast. I like that it has a big alternator for lighting and heated clothing.
