1980 Honda CR250

hey, a buddy of mine recently got a 1980 Honda CR250...was told it rode good...motor has been rebuilt.

well we start it up...runs fine...hold the clutch in, kick it in gear, bike lurches forward and dies....

adjust the clutch cable, still nothing.

was told the clutches could be stuck together and that i can go in through the oil fill hole to "pry" them apart with a screwdriver.

i'm going to try that when i get home today, but in case it doesn't work i was going to ask if anyone else knows what it might be.

my friend has rode dirt bikes since he was about 10, but he has never worked on one pretty much lol.

i've worked on 4wheelers...but never dirtbikes lol

Dirtbikes are ALOT easier to work on..
When you pull the clutch basket, make sure that the whole thing goes back in the same way...

now the dang shifter aint shifting...i believe my buddy wasted $600 lmao

acts like the shifter is pulled out too far, if i pushin the shifter HARD with my hand, then it shifts just fine......

and it basically dropped a duece on my garage floor, puddle of gear oil about 2ft long and a foot wide....coming out of either the gear shift hole, or the kick start hole.

turns out it was fuel on the ground LOL bad fuel line lol

i was sitting in my garage with it running (another friend wanted to hear it run, he wants to buy it) and i rapped it out once, and it kicked itself in gear!!!!!!!!!!!!....freaked me out lmao..it immediately died of course lol.

now i wanna know why the HELL it did that....either way though, the bike is getting tossed down the road to someone else.

for one, it's too old and has too many little problems.
two, it's too damn powerful for me LOL, biggest i ever road was a 125, and it don't have SHAT on this dude, this dang thing is downright scary powerful...
three, my buddy is getting a new Polaris Sportsman 850 XP with EPS....so he don't want this LMAO
