Show us your mountain bikes

I have not had a road bike since a teenager in the early 70s (Schwinn Varsity Sport 10 speed), so someone will have to start one for that.

Anyways, I have another bike thread in this same section of the bike I just bought, but a few of the bikes that were posted in it are getting buried by the other tech talk in there, hence a new thread here to show off your bike and mods you have done to it.

These same pictures are in my other thread too, and I will add more here in the future.

Mine is a 2009 Specialized Rockhopper Pro.
http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...hopper&eid=107

All of the details leading up to buying it and members patiently helping me make decisions can be found in the original thread here.

Here are a few pics of it from the day I picked it up, to when I bought a wall stand and work stand for it.

Shop had just finished installing my Thule T2 bike rack when I bought the bike 7-25-2009

I have noticed a trend for the Kenda Nevegal tires too in the magazines on top end bikes.
That is the tire the shop recommended I go with.
Quote:
Nevegal voted #1 tread pattern 2 years in a row by MOUNTAIN BIKE ACTION Magazine!
They are a very noisy tire though, even cruising slow.

I wanted the 2.3s, but they were to big for the Rockhopper, they said to stick with the 2.1.
Something about it would hit the Juicy 3 or something.

Nice ride you have there.

Thanks! Yeah actually now that I remember, the front is a 2.3, and the rear is a 2.1 cause it didn't clear the rear triangle. It rubbed every now and then when I hit a rock hard the right way. For a bike like yours and the types of trails that you described you do, I'd stick with a 2.0 tire or 2.1 at the max anyway. Once you get up to the bigger tires like the 2.3 2.5 etc.. they start gettin pretty heavy and are harder to stop if you don't have big brakes and make it more difficult to climb. But it's nice havin as much tire as possible when you're bombin through rock gardens in the Sierras

Thank you.
I believe yours is similar to Mytruck's Cannondale.
Not sure if he still has his or not.

Not sure what year yours is, but he got his around '93 I think.

Speaking of flats, are any of these thorn resistant or slime tubes any good? The Pyramid sounds worthy but weighs nearly as much as the tires I'm getting, Maxxis Ignitors (thanks flashkl).

Had to that, pretty cool.
http://www.google.com/search?q=airlo...ient=firefox-a

I bought two extra tubes for mine, but they are not those.
I like that idea, and I may have to switch over to two of them on the rims later, and carry backups just in case.

Nice Giant.
I had looked at one similar back in 2001, but alas along came 911, and I was laid off at the beginning of 2002.
That was the last time I had looked at mountain bikes until a few weeks ago when I picked up mine.
