if you have a hitch you could try this website
http://www.veveinc.com/shop/customer/home.php?cat=17

it doesnt go in the hitch, mounts to the cross bar

yes that would be a problem. :pat: did you try Garvin Wilderness? I know they make spare tire bumpers for jeeps, but ithought they do it for toyotas to.

If all else find someone that can weld and make a bumper of your own, garvin has specs for theirs online, at least you can get some ideas from it.

SEARCH......

has been dicussed before. About the only off-the shelf carrier you will find is the one from CBI. Steve is a great guy to deal with, I was going to have him make one for me, but I am waiting because I now need a whole new bumper.

http://www.cbioffroadfab.com/index.php

That is one that he made for a 4th gen. Someone here has one for a 1st gen. Prices are reasonable too, about 175 plus shipping.

Google. Search. Lots of options. I had one, boat anchor IMO.

And you WONT get any kind of bumper for 175 either!

If you're willing to do a little bit of modding, I have a swing away carrier from a '91 4Runner. Everything you need for it, the carrier, latch plate and even the hinge covers.

I was going to mount it on my '92, but now sadly have to sell it. $100, only issue would be shipping it from Canada

They make some awesome stuff, and when/if I ever get my back bumper built, I fully plan to order one from them. Everyone that has them says they are solid as can be, no wiggle action at all. Assuming shipping is reasonable, you really can't go wrong.
