potential ScanGauge II group buy

I'm currently working on a group buy for the ScanGauge II for $130USD shipped to your door. Cali residents are subject to state sales tax of 7.75% (CA residents total: $139.30 shipped). If interested, please reply to this thread. For more info on the ScanGauge please click on the link below. I'm not making $$$ off of this group buy. I saw this group buy on another site and contacted the vendor doing this and decided some of my fellow yotatechers would be interested in this.

I guess this will fit a 2002 4Runner? Is this something you can install in the cabin and hardwire or is it use to identify problems? Thanks.

Yes... in fact, it has the potential to work in most any US truck or car that was manufactured from 1996 on. Some questions are answered here in their FAQ:

http://www.scangauge.com/support/faq.shtml

One thing to ponder, is which _protocol_ the box supports. Technically "OBD II" is an interface (hardware and electrical) spec, it's not a data spec.

Humanoid: Since you're taking lead, maybe this is something you can get them to comment on? You're looking for them to start spitting buzzwords like "CAN, ISO, VPW, PWM, KWP2000".

Oh, decisions, decisions... it looks like a nice gadget to have. I read on the site that you just plug it in and it'll automatically work, just like that, correct? Nothing else to do?

I'll have to see if I have a good place for it. That looks like a good price. Thanks!

Grrr, this would take away from the auto GPS I'm eyeballing.

Yeup... It's getting its power from the OBD II plug, so it's literally plug & go. The manual says it comes with sticky-backed Velcro, so you don't even have to drill holes.

Side note: For those states that have emissions testing that use the OBD II interface to check for faults, remember to unplug this from the OBD II plug before you drive up to the testing station.

Will it be able to calculate everything it says it can on our Toyota's? I am a little sceptical as I don't know if all that fuel management info even goes into the ECU on our trucks...Anyone have any insight into this?

I don't know, but that's a good point. Hopefully someone will chime in before it ends. Of course that's more important with your truck than on mine.
