PA:WTB 79-83 Toyota Truck longbed frame and bed
Anyone have one or know where I can get a clean frame, cab and bed? I just bought a diamond in the rough from a guy last night. It is a 1979 toyota pickup SR5 4x4. It was #993 out of the first 1000 imported from Japan. I bought it from the original owner and it came with the window sticker from back in 79. The price tag was $7,392, but he told me that when the truck arrived the sales manager increased it another $1000 because they were moving so fast. The interior is in mint condition with the exception of the bench seat which is ripped and the dash which has a couple of cracks. The carpet, door panels etc. are all in great shape. It runs like a champ, but was in an accident in October of 2006 though that is the least of the trucks problems. Rust has consumed it. The frame is totally shot and the cab is pretty bad as well. I'd like to get a clean cab/bed and frame, and start from there. The running gear is perfect on the truck. It only has 97,000 original miles. If anyone has some of the parts I need email me pics and info at eatpoo2@comcast.net. I'm located in southeastern PA, but have no problem getting the parts shipped if need be.

no SR5 model in 79, it started later than that, there was more than 1000 in 79 because my 79 is #13xx i beleive (not 100% on that #, i'll edit later) and my donor cab was a 79 #20xx, how bad is the cab, where is the rust located, rust or rot? cleaner frames can be fairly easily found in pa, i have found and owned 3 1st gens i a one year period so far a 2 79s and an 82, in which 2 frames were good, a donor frame should be easy to find, replacement panels like the fenders, hood, doors, rockers, etc can be found at JCWhitney. clean beds is the tough part, in all honesty..try getting a fiberglass repop

I'm going from what the guy said, but you may have not understood what I wrote. It was #993 of the first 1000 imported to the US. I'm not sure exactly how many were produced for that year, but this truck was the tail end of the 1000 they imported. Again, I have no way of telling. As for the SR5 you might be right, but it does have PS/PB/rear slider/A/C and a nicer interior.
I'm sure I'll have to go out west for a clean bed and cab. My cab has rust in the rockers/ cowl and door pillars. It's shot. Let me know if you run across any of the parts I'm looking for.

ahh that makes more sense being of the first 1000 imported
but ps/pb, etc doesnt mean SR5 i belevie SR5 was introduced in 84?
rocker can be replced, JCWhitney sells the replacements for around $30
cowl is more than likely salvagable and the door pillers? do u mean like this?
if so, a patch can be made easy to follow the curve, and the rest is flat

I've owned an 82 sr5 "mirage edition". They had them on the 1st gens. Just not sure what year it started.
I'd rather just find a clean cab/sheetmetal. I've restored my share of vehicles from the ground up, and one thing you learn through this process is that clean rust free metal is happy metal.
