Interested, but to my knowledge, the front and rear Detroit Truetrac units are NOT interchangeable.

Doesn't matter since it's sold, but I call BS.

Care to explain why two different part numbers, one for the front 8" axle, and one for the rear 8" axle?

Because those are different spline counts. Apologies, I didn't read through enough, and thought we were talking v6 to 4cyl.

You COULD put the rear in the front, but you'd need to upgrade to a 30 spline long field set up.

You still don't' read enough.

V6, 8", 4cyl., all have the same spline count for the differentials. It's the 7.5" axle that has 27 splines for the differential.

if its for the 8", yes it has front and rear application... but you could flip the internal gears to make it otherwise

NOTE: after posting, I checked the link I gave above won't work. Maybe you could check again after a while.

I stand corrected. Good call.

I have a front, and I'm going to flip it for the rear axle.
