You jest young man(X-AWDRIVER), as the Tundra goes any damn place you point it and have the balls to see it through. In case anybody is wondering why I'm trying to trade - I have Slees School Bus (the Tundra is more capable on the class 4/5 trails) for wheeling and the Tundra is literally kicking my butt getting into and out of several times a day, as I'm 63 and not getting any younger. It's starting to wear on me a little, so I'm looking for a "slightly" built (33") or stock vehicle I can ram around in. The Avatar was taken when it was still IFS - need I say more?

I'm sorry, I'm not interested in buying but I would like to see it. Pics are the key to internet sales.

I need you to send me your e-mail address and I'll send pictures of the Tundra along with a few trail shots. It's the details that I've always found wheelers want to know about and if it looks good as well, it's a sure sale or trade. I've had several Pirate guys show interest but the "short list" is now down to two so just maybe next week I can pull the ad. Tedd's sight is a good reference.

So far a lot of lookers and a couple trade offers that didn't come together, so I'll bump it up one last time to see if anyone out there has a stocker or medium built rig they are looking to trade. If someone out there has a nice rig that's worth more than the Tundra, I'll pony up the bucks for the difference.
With most being a little strapped for cash, it kinda looks like I might just have to go with 4" BDS springs and come up with some type of "easy-on easy-off" old fogey step.

Pictures aren't the problem - so far 27 people from here and Pirate have asked for pictures meaning to me they possessed an interest and some offered trades of "older" rigs, which were in good condition, but the monetary difference was to great to overcome and some thought about refinancing for a couple days before deciding that it wasn't in their financial best interests. Theres only a small market out there for a full-sized vehicle on steroids but I think someone with a nice 4Runner or Taco will come along and instead of pouring a lot of money into a build will just decide to trade for this beast. Ive seen a couple vehicles I would have paid several thousand to boot for but they needed the money, not an off-road daily driver, so those went by the wayside. But thank you for your suggestion. |

There you go dwh91102 thanks, as I forgot about Tedd's site. Look under Joe. The undercarriage no longer has that brownish color to it, as everything under there (including the sliders) got a good power washing, wire brush and a little air power sanding and then a coat of POR-15, a coat of enamel primer and a coat of flat black enamel that was in August of this year. Should hold up for a couple years anyway with the salt on the streets and highways in the North Country. This afternoon I just pulled both hubs and repacked the inner and outer bearings, greased the CTMs etc with synthetic grease of course and adjusted the rear brakes it was either putz with the Tundra or do honeydo stuff, so I delayed cleaning the eves and winterizing the air conditioner for at least another day.

Thats a well built rig you have Joe. I am curious a little about the xcase setup? Stock with a 4.7 crawl box for dual cases?

Marlin couldn't figure out how to make his crawler work with the stock tundra transfer case, so he just took it out and replaced it with a V6 Taco case and bolted up his crawler - that's why I have the twin sticks plus the 4.7 stick in the cab - it's no longer push a button and wait for the lights - now you grab a stick and go.

There are a lot of people out there that would like to own it but are paying back college loans etc. and just struggling day to day with starting pay careers - I was there once, so I know what they are going through making various financial decisions. It seems that when they sit down to make that final decision to buy or not to buy, "reality" sets in and they back off, as "other" things in life are more important to them today. Hopefully everyone's day will come realizing their dreams of enjoying nature's wonders. Mine did and I'm still finding ways to be amazed at Nature's beauty and her ferocity.
