1981 SR5 4x4
22r, no power steering, open diffs, stock gears, comes with the shell.
156k original miles
Santa Cruz, CA
3100 OBO
I am the second owner.
I bought it a few months ago with the intention of selling my 3rd gen, but I decided to keep the 3rd gen so this has got to go. I can't afford to keep both any longer.
The good:
Starts right up every time. Doesn't have any leaks. Very little surface rust and no cancer. Absolutely no rust in the corners of the cab floor (pictured). 3 inch spring lift with downey springs. Extended diff breathers. All the original tools and owner's manual. 31x10.5r15 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws with good tread left.
The bad:
No stereo or speakers (original owner pulled them out).
Bucket seats are alright, but they definitely show their age.
Driver's side hub doesn't lock. I haven't taken it apart yet to see what's wrong.
The timing chain hasn't been done yet, but it runs fine and very rarely hear any rattle.
Looks like this in all 4 corners.
Lots more pictures shown here!

It's a pickup with a shell, not a 4runner, but yea, it's for sale for now. I've got 4.88s, two aussies and V6 brakes/FJ rotors and high steer/steering box for it now. Need to find a power steering pump and fix the broken hub and I'll be putting all the parts on it. Price will reflect the changes.

thanks man, nice to see more people in the bay area! Where do you like to wheel around here? I've been to holister once, but only had my stock 3rd gen. Looking forward to coming back in my first gen after I get all my parts.

this is a beautiful truck.
im still caught between a 80's hilux and a 4runner... that and youre about 5000 miles away from the East Coast! If you still have it in the summer though, I'd probably fly out and grab this in no time

I'm in Oakland, does the 3100 account for the lockers, gears and rotors etc? Also, would you be into trading?? I've got an 85 p/up in decent shape. Has bad rust around the windsheild but a rebuild on the 22R and 30k on that rebuild. Drivetrain has 250k. Both Warn hubs lock... hehe.
You got a nice truck BTW.
