I've got a 99 4runner Sr5 needing a new pair of shoes, I checked out this thread after checking out the good year web site, and the only thing bad I seem to hear is about the side walls. My other choice was toyo open country AT or cooper discovery stt. I've had success with the toyo's in the past but wanted something more aggressive with the ability to still run the highways with controll. Go with the dura tracks?

If you are worried about the sidewalls, go with the Load Range E tire. They offer that size in both load range C and E. The E tires have very stout sidewalls, but I haven't found the ride to be harsh at all.

Just an update on these treads:

Over the past week I was skiing in Southwest CO during record snowfall (60" at Wolf Creek!) and driving on some super-snowy, icy & windy roads. These tires are hands-down the best winter shoes I have had on my rig, and I have run BFG at's, goodyear wranglers (p-metric) and treadwright AT's (which actually did pretty well in the snow.)

If you are in need of good winer tires I would highly recommend these!

Any new updates folks? I'm still looking at tires, even though my TW's still have a ton of tread on them, and was wondering if you all are still happy with the Duratracs.

The one problem I have run into is that I can't find a 31/10.50/15 in anything other than a load rating of C. I'd prefer an E rating but don't think I can afford wheels and tires at the same time.

sorry, but they don't make the duratracs in load E for a 31 or 33" tire on a 15" rim. not sure why, but they don't. i've got load E on my cruiser, but those are 285x75x16s. i've put a little over 5k on them and they are barely worn at all - still have the rubber tassel thingies everywhere, but i haven't been offroading them as it's winter. i think i'm gonna get some for my truck after MaK92-4RnR told me the price of them at 4wheelparts. the ones for my cruiser were $50/ea more, but then again anything larger than 15" rim is gonna cost more.

I can't seem to find these tires anywhere close to me. I am in Clemmons / Winston-Salem, NC area and every dealer tells me they are on back order. There is a 4wheelparts store in Charlotte...I may give them a try. I guess the other alternative is to get the Walmart version "Authority".

I got these tires back in July and I love them. I also met up with a buddy (4restrunner) who went and got some within 20 minutes of seeing mine. I've been seeing them on a lot of other rigs while I've been driving. I drive over mt hood often in the snow and have done some mild wheeling in sandy terrain and have been impressed! Goodyear also has 6 months of no intrest if you sign up for the card, I was lucky and got 12 months so I had no reason not to buy them.

Ran mine all winter (31x10.5). Got them studded and they performed very well.

First off, I wanna say to X-AWDriver....very nice runner!!! I have been trying to decide between the BFG A/T KO's or the Duratrac.......After reading this post I will go with the Goodyear Duratrac 265/75/16. They may not last as long as the BFG's, but they look a hella betta IMO!! I will prob just throw in some 1.5" spacers since I already have the tall 99 springs on mine. I can't spent all the money for a complete toytec or OME lift. I still think I could get away with 285's, just a little nervous about it, prob stay with 265's!!

I just put mine on Goodyear Duratrac 265/75/16 Load C...out the door for about $800...they look AWESOME and feel great!

So i just drove home in a HELACIOUS hail storm, with roadz flodding and hail clogging the drainpipez. Carz were sliding and losing traction az the roadz were COVERED in hail and water. The tirez handled AMAZING! almost like there was NO water at all... I have lived in Colorado almost my whole life and have drivin in every road condition possible. I have never felt so surefooted in such crappy conditionz! I will never buy any other tire for my truck. I'm even looking for a set for my Celica GT..

i got a set of 265/75/16 with the C sidewall, they seem unstable at high speeds

not to the point of where your white knuckled, but i sure as hell wouldn't want to take my truck on a 4 hour drive on the highway, i'd be worn out. I have to stay very alert now lol

i'm running 38 in the fronts and 42 in the rears, it still feels like you are pulling a heavy trailer or have the bed loaded down with a bunch of weight


other than that they are great

I did notice they seem to be quite heavy. My 300,000 mi RE really struggles now.
