BFG's
I have not had good luck with BFG AT's on my vehicles with IFS. They quickly wear down the outside tread when on the front, even with religious rotation in my experience. I am a nut about alignment, so I keep my vehicles aligned and keep up with rotation. I've had one set on my Sequoia, two sets on my 4runner, and a set on my Jeep CJ-7. On my Jeep they show very little wear and it is always even. The Jeep has a solid front axle, but is even flat towed every summer about 2000 miles.
On both the 4Runner and Sequoia the BFG's wear unevenly on the outside of the tread when on the front only. Once they start wearing they get loud and are impossible to balance. I have replaced the Sequoia tires with Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2's. They are doing better so far, but time will tell.

Dunno what the backspacing on the FJ wheels are but if the same as the stock wheels are you willing to get wheel adapters (spacers that bolt on and to your hub and wheel)? I've got LT285/75r16 with a Sonoran steel 1.2 and 1" WabFab adapters plus pinch weld smashing and bumper valance trimming on my 96:
