Tire Chains and weird tire sizes

I picked up a set of new ProComp Mud Terrain tires in 31x12.5x15 a few days back. I "upgraded" from the ProComp MT's in 31x10.5x15 and I went looking for tire chains for the new tires. I can't seem to find a set of chains for my new tire size. I have seen chains for the 10.5", 11.5", and 13.5" width tires, but not my 12.5" ones. The tire chains that I picked up will fit the 13.5" width tire, so I imagine that the tensioner will just have to take up a little more slack on the chains. I will be needing them I believe for the drive home to CA next month. I do like the larger footprint of the wider tires, but they rub a little at full lock on the inner rear part of the front fenders.

I used to run BFG 325/60R15's which is equivalent to 31x12.5's and I got chains from Schuck's to fit 'em. This was several years ago though.

Sorry I can't help ya on the chains, but I do have a question for you about the Pro Comp Mud Terrains. From seeing you just bought your second set, I'm assuming you like the tire. After I installed the Revtek 3" on my 03' Runner I bought a set of 33x12.5R17's cause Pro Comp was one of a few companies with that size available for my 17" wheel. So far they seem to be a great tire, as I am currently in Montana and am in the snow everyday. I guess I was just curious if you could give me a little info about the tire - traction, tread life, balancing, etc. Any info would be great...thanks again.

Billy,
Well I was actually very happy with my last set of the ProComp MT's but I ended up getting another set since someone saw fit to cut the sidewall of my front right tire. I didn't want to replace only one tire so I went with a new set. My last set had many miles on them both on and off road. If there was something that I would change, I would build them with a little tougher sidewall. I have the other three tires still, as they have a little more than half the original tread depth on them. They are great from my experience in all the varied terrain I have taken them. I beat the hell out of my truck and the tires always get me through (except for that one time when I had to use the winch~oops it was twice) especially since I got the Lock Right. I did get them siped (both sets) since I almost took out a vehicle that was sitting at a green light while the driver was talking to homeless people. It was raining, and I took the exit a little too fast to stop. But I really like the tires and will likely get another set in the future.

Get the 13.50 size. It's easier to make wider chains fit a narrower tire (within reason) than vice versa. A set for 32×12.50's may fit just fine as well.

seafar-

Thanks for the reply and info. I got mine siped as well, and like them more everyday. It's just nice to see some reassurance. I am actually surprised how quiet they are on a MT interstate going 85 mph. Just gotta get an alignment and all will be great. Thanks agian.
