I have a set of SCC Z-chains (cable chains). Only used them once when I had to pull a couple of trucks up an icy hill, but they work great:

You can try Gregg Distributors down in the Foothills Industrial area.
http://www.greggdistributors.ca/calgFoothills.htm Be prepared to pay big $$$ for them, since they're the real deal. Canadian Tire also carries light duty cable chains.

Schucks has good old fashioned chains (the manual says to only use them on the rear wheels for p/u's) for about $70, easy to put on and take off. max speed 25mph but you can go anywhere you want regardless of snow or ice! Don't use them often but a must have for all the snow in the WA cascades...

We're Canadians. No Shuck's in Calgary, nor Kragen, Checker, or O'Reilly's.

I was thinking about making some redneck style, wrap up a spare tire and weld them up.

LOL, there's an idea.
Thanks for all the tips, guys. I'll try Gregg's and CDN tire. Any other thoughts? Any particular type of chain that is better or worse than the others? Reasons? Thanks Jordan

the cable chains that 4Crawler mentioned work pretty good if you need to do some long range high way driving. They are a combo of cables and chains. Have a set for my tahoe and camry...
real chains are great for deep snow/ice... edit: http://www.tirechain.com/16INCHTRUCKCHAINS.HTM
