Tallest stock tires on a 1st Gen?

I may be trading my 85 for a stock 83 (my truck needs a trans and wiring harness and other things I just don't have the money for, and I don't like how long it is in the trail). I've never been happy with how tall my current truck is anyway, so I want to keep the next one low or no lift.

How much tire can I put on a stock pre-84 truck before firewall clearance becomes an issue? I have a sawzall and that's my preferred method for creating tire clearance now so actual fender clearance doesn't matter to me, I'm just trying to avoid having to move the axle forward to allow full travel.

31s easy with some fedner trimming to fully flex.
My first toyota I stuffed 35s with a lot of cutting and hammering back the inner fenders. I did it cause I was told it couldn't be done just don't try and flex far it was streetable tho. I lifted it shortly after.

I wish I had pictures
