Should I stay on 33s or downsize?
It's new tire time and with these 33s I can't get any high end acceleration. Should I gear up to 4.88s and hope it will help or should I downsize to something else? Also, what would look better?

Hope it helps?!?! It'll 4.88 will make all the difference in the world. Huge improvement over 4.10. I ran 33s with 4.88s for years, make speedo spot on. 70mph is about my top speed, no sway bar, flexy springs it's about I don't feel comfortable with more. I'm now on 35's with the 4.88s not to shabby.

I haven't exactly been able to "cruise" at 65-70 haha. I'm lucky to get it up to 65 going down hill. But, I leave it in 4th gear to get my RPMs a little higher. I'll try to get up to speed on the interstate today and let you know my RPMs in 4th and 5th gear. Wait, so my speedo has been wrong the whole time? Is it low or high? FYI, I bought this 4Runner with the 33s (and a lot of problems) so I have no base to go off of.

your tires are larger than stock size, so your speedometer and odometer will both be reading slower than they should. If you have a 33" tire and stock was around 28", this is like a 15-16% difference. So I guess when your speedo says 60mph, you're doing closer to 70mph. Same concept for distance/odometer readings.

I have gone from 31s to 33s and have a 2nd gen on 235/75/15 the 2nd gen can spin tires if I want with stock gears. My 1st gen with 33/10.50 at 65 on freeway is just at 3k in 4th and about 2700 2800 rpm in 5th but maintaining that speed in 5th is hard with traffic easy if I don't have to slow down at all. Hills easily drop down to 35mph and 3rd gear with no chance of shifting maybe 45 if I really get on it before the hill but this isn't very often. With 31s I felt like the look was still close to stock height. When I put 33s on it I felt like I lifted it. U should look in to a Zuk mod in the rear u will get a little clearance and create a little more life out of ur springs. After driving like that for a while I put 1 inch bj spacers up front and left my t bars alone. I didn't put a diff drop in I don't think i really needed it. At this point I need tired as well but I want to regear fist with a grizzly in the rear. 488 I think is the way because u can still run 35s if u wanted. Any one know if the supra diffs bolt on or if they need the gears put into current housing
