I have been searching for an answer to this... I have a 91' hilux surf with 3" body lift and 3" suspension and just put 35x12.50R15 KM2's on and want to know if its to big a tire for the stock gearing and IFS ?, I think it would have looked dumb with 33"s. I bought it with the lift and 35x12.50R15 MTR's and they rubbed the back of the wheel well at the bottom if i hit a bump at full steer lock just a bit and only till they wore out a bit, but looked good.

don't every do any kind of modification like suspension or tires because it "looks stupid" remember you gotta build the truck to work, not look cool. its like seeing ricer's on the street with loud exhaust and chrome but no engine to back up the looks... that is STUPID

im not really hard on my truck though, and the added clearance is nice for in the mud in deep ruts since most people have made ruts with 40"+ tires up around here. I was just wondering if the tires will wreck it man.

i have a 1990 pickup 3vze. I want to put some 31x10.5 on 15x8" rims with 3.75 backspacing. How far will the tires be out of the fender? i like the look. i assume i will have rub, would a 2 in. body lift eliminate any potential rub?

just bought my first runner...2000 sr5 2wd 95,000mi for $7360. I want to replace stock 225.75.15 with 265.70.16. I know the overall diameter of the tires with affect ODO/SPEEDO but the Limited trim comes with this setup from the factory. Will there be any harmful effects to my drive train? Will this swap look odd with no fender flares?

My new rig with a just installed 3"/2" cornfed lift needs some new tires. Originally I was going to get some new rims (17" - even though it came with 18"s). This is to put more rubber between the wheel and the rock and have heard that the 17"rs are considerably cheaper to buy in the long run.

The wheels I want come in a 17x9 as their smallest size.

This is a daily driver - but I do a bunch of off-roading - so I'll need a BFG AT at the very least... Cooper STT as I climb up the food chain.

So - on to the questions:[list][*]Do I move to 17" or stick with the 18". (think I have this one answered)[*]How tall a tire can I run - given that I'm going for tall & skinny and still fit it in my spare space?[*]Considering even a mudder has limitations in the Sierra's and Rocky's where I'll be headed - should I run them (ATs) a little smaller and try to fit chains or just jump to the mudders?

Need help fast and searching for someone looking for the tallest & skinniest "fitter" on a 2009 limited 4runner isn't working. I know somewhere I saw a thread that talked about fitment from an upper control arm perspective ... and Im running spacers - but bothe with UCAs and in the spare location - I'm looking for skinny tall - not wide. I have been looking at other toyotas with nice tires and wheels and want to do the same with mine. It is all stock. Someone told me that it has the same bolt pattern as a six lug chevy and to get wheels from a blazer with manual locking hubs. I went to the junk yard today and I found an old blazer with american racing wheels. I am probably going to get them on monday. I think they are either 15x6 or 15x7. With the rub? The tires that are on there look stock so that shouldn't be an issue just worred about the width.

Thinking about getting a lift and tires for my truck, just wondering if I go with 33x12.50x15" wheel, will they fit on my stock 15x7" wheel, or will I have to go with a 15x8" or 15x10" wheel?

15x8 is preferred, but 15x7 will work

If you do mount 33x12.5 on some 15x7's do a chalk test to make sure they wear evenly

I was on a budget and got 4 tires from Pepboys. I got the Dakota Definity. They seemed okay. We're very loud though. Well after 2 years they were wearing well but the rubber was becoming very hard. They had over half of their tread left but they were like driving on ice in the rain. Plus some wheels required 5+ ounces to balance them! After talking to others around here that have the same tire everyone said the same thing; good at first but then horrible, wont't stay balanced and uncontrollable in the rain.

Just got a set of Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10. They are much quieter and smooth. Wet traction seems great. Just wanted to throw that out there since I know of a lot of people on a budget around here going with the Dakotas and then regretting it.

I bought my truck with 33x12.50 on a 15x7 and it wasn't to appealing, which is why those came off stat!

It balloons like a *itch and the treadwear will become uneven due to the tire being stretched. If you wanna do it right and get the maximum amount of traction and have your tire last as long as possible, get a 8 or 9 inch wide rim.

don't forget about the offset of the wheel. 12.5" tires may hit your control arm depending on the brand/sidelugs without proper backspacing. you'll want to get wheels with about 1" less backspacing than the stockers. wheel spacers are also another option. it sucks that the majority of tire companies only make 33s in a 12.5 width.

On a 7" rim I think you'd do fine with 33X10.5's...Just something to think about.

Hello, I'm looking at buying a new Tacoma -- my '99 is in the repurchase process for the frame rot. My question is -- I have 265/75 R15s on my current truck and really like them (compared to the stock from that year which was 225/75 r15). When I purchase a new tacoma, the stock size is 245/75 r16 which I find looks a bit small on the truck. Can you replace those w/ 265/75 r 16's? Or 265/70 r16s which I know come standard if you get the TRD Off road pkg, but I'm thinking I may not need all of the other features in that pkg so it might be cheaper just to switch the tires, if they will work w/ no rubbing issues, etc in the non-trd pkg. Any help is appreciated!

I lifted my 94' PU 2"....will these fit with no rubbing on American Racing Outlaws..15 x 8, 3.75" backspace, -19mm offset? Tire diameter is 32.7(new) .....I have these tires also on a Wrangler and they are great. Figured I would try a set on the Yota.

Also...first post here, been reading alot ...gaining much needed info.

The Yota is new to me... 94' extended cab, 4cyl 5 sp... 79K ...good from 50 feet....decent from 25'....could use some work up close. I've been cleaning, painting , replacing and lifting for the last month. She will be a daily commuter for the most part so I'm not really worried that it will be underpowered with the tires...the commute is less than 3 " miles. It will also be #5 in the stable, so I won't have to "depend" on her for the most part...however I had a Celica with the 20R that never ever left me stranded, so I'm hopeful. I live less than 15 min. from Summit Racing, so I spend much time and money there....and the rim/tire deal with balancing there is GREAT....so that's where they will come from. Thanks Brian:

yes, they'll fit. i have 'em on my 1st gen, but had to add a 1" b.l. to guarantee clearance because hammering my pinch weld wasn't enough. your 2nd gen should have no problem.

I run 35 x 12.5 x 15's (rims have 3.75 back spacing you will need min 3.75 bs on the rim to clear the A arms)with a little pinch weld trimming on the Pro Comp Stage II.
I am sure you know if you go to that size of tire you need to regear 5.29's (thats what I run)or 5.71's

With BJ spacers and my PC Stage II i can run 38.5s, 35s fit real nice for all around clearance and general livability.
