Have a good price on a set of wheels and tires, P275/65R18, but I don't know if they will fit my 2004, 4wd Tacoma.

Anyone have any experience using bigger wheels on one?

I've pretty much narrowed it down to one of these. I currently have 285/75/16 BFG Mud Terrains.

So Another set of the same for 223 each

nowadays..i don't NEED a mud terrain very often...but when i do...i DO!

the places i go sometimes are absolutely horrible..

i'd rather have something and not need it, than need something and not have it..

of course if you actually know hot to drive a 4wd vehicle..A/T's will do JUST fine!!!

i on the other hand need some mud terrains lol..although i might grab a set of 31" A/T's for my new 4runner (it's got 4.56 gears) for mileage reasons.

but this summer i'm working the pipeline all over oklahoma..and those pipeline right-of-ways are absolutely thrashed..NO way that an A/T would make it 10 ft on that red clay lol swampers is the only way to go

so this summer i might pick up a set of 33x13.50 IROK radials for the 4runner...decent street manners if they are checked on often..should get some decent mileage out of them..and they should handle the pipeline very well

The reviews suggest the Generals are a better tire. I've heard a bit how quality control used to not be so good with General, and people were getting tires that were out of round and having to ship them back on their dime (one disadvantage of buying online). The Generals would be my pick I think still because they are a bit more aggressive and I think they might be heavier built (I think they weigh more than the BFG).

Lockers are really important on an IFS rig, so I'd try and get one in. Lockers will do more for you than tires in a lot of situations (dare i say most?) and they won't impact mpgs.

I'm settling on 265/75s as opposed to the awesome 255/85s. I don't want to have to regear and trim pinch welds, fenders, bumpers, etc.

So, my question to you guys is.....

What do you think will look the best? The 1.5" or the 2.5"? If I did the 2.5" would I need to drop the differential? Also, if I got the 2.5" with 265/75s....will I wish that I had got the 255/85s?

Let me know what you think and post pics if you get 'em.

I have a 99 4runner with a 3 inch Toytec lift...I want to upgrade to 33/12.5/15 tires...does anyone know if they will for sure fit? im not going to be doing any crazy off roading. its mostly just for looks.
And also, what rims do i get to go with them...backspacing etc. im new to all this so please help!!!

my brother did the same lift but went with 32x11.5/15. honestly, you can do 33x12.50s. they will fit. but the problem is what rims do you want? my brother had a problem with rims because he bought 15x8 steelies with 3.75 backspacing. they fit the lug pattern but didn't clear the brake caliper so he has to run wheel spacers until he finds rim that fit correctly.

also, what lb. coils did you get? 650?

i just dont know the measurments to get so they fit.
im not sure what lb coils they are. all they say are medium load. front are OME 883 and rear are OME 891 if that helps any.

others on this website have ran those. just do a quick search. you need 6x5.5 lug pattern though for the yota

2. ask the people who your getting the tire from what rim youll need.

well from what ive learned guys putting 12.50 and even 11.50 on stock rims is really a no no it can make premature tire wear and some tire manufacters wont warrenty the tire 10.50 is as big as you should go on a 7 inch rim 11.50 calls for 7.5 to 9 and 12.50 calls foe a 8.5 to 10.50 it can be done and put on those rims but you should check into getting wider rims later on

ok, so im currently running 11.50 tires on my 99 runner. im about to step up to 35x12.50's. Am i gonna need a wheel spacer? Or what kind of back spacing? Thenks for the help guys and gals!

Not sure about the new trucks, but a lot will depend on what rim you want to run.

The smaller your back spacing, the farther out your tire sits, and the more it will rub. Same thing with a spacer.

I'm running stock rims on my 87, but I had to modify the A-arm a lot. However, I only had to trim the fenders a very minor amount. Depends on what you want to do.

I just got a new to me 92 extended cab a few weeks ago. I'm extremely pumped about it. I've been wanting a toyota since I was 15.


I bought it for 2400 if anyone is interested to know. 166,000 on the 22re now.


The truck has a 3" body lift and is running 32 11.50's on it with no rubbing under any conditions, the inner fender was trimmed out but the the pinch weld is not pounded/trimmed down.

After days of reading through the forums,
I ordered a rear locker, a spartan, believe its made by yukon.. I'll be putting it in this Sunday.

Also from the information I've acquired from yota tech, I've decided to move up to 33's on my next tire change (which won't be too far in the future as the alignment ate up the front tires pretty bad before I replaced idler pitman and had it realigned).

Out of curiostiy, and it is probably a stupid question, but how do I know what backspacing my wheels are?

Anyway, what I haven't decided is what width tire I should go with. Either a 10.50 or a 12.50.? I'm not worried about fitting, I don't mind trimming or swinging a hammer a little. What I really want is everyone's opinion about is how either will perform. I see mostly mud holes and mud hill climbs some biggish steps over roots and etc(clay sometimes) and some deep snow during the winters.

Also i was wondering about suggestions about types of tires I should buy, The truck has wild country's on it right now, Schwab specials as I understand. I am fairly impressed with them so far (and the truck itself I'm sure has quite a bit to do with it), I would like something with at least as aggressive tread as the current tires. I'm not looking to break the bank buying tires if I don't have to though. Anyway any opinions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

hey deadwrong mub or allterrains when it comes to mud i swear by swampers they have several different brands when it comes to a all terrain ill prob get a lot of for this but i got nitto dune grapplers on a 1500 dodge they have actually impressed me they arent the best as far as mud but snow rain ice they r pretty good and my friend on a chevy 3/4 ton got 44,000 out of his i got 15,000 so far and they r in good shape but i rotate them every oil change hope this helps i run swamper truxis mx on my toy
