MTR Tire Code Deciphering
I thought I was 100% ready to buy BFG MT's for my Toy beadlocks, when I came across two version of MTR's on Sams Club's website today when looking something else up.
They have two version of MTR's in a 35" size. Anyone who has 35's or 33's, take a look at your tire and let me know whhat you have. I'm wondering if the cheaper ones are weaker. I'm guessing the speed rating is different??

Any compelling reason not to look at the cheaper one?

I do not have your answer. However, based on my experience the BFG's do not last as long as the MTR's. I only got about 20k out of my BFG's. This past weekend I saw a set of MTR's with 30k that looked like they could last for 30k more, no kidding.

I think the more expensive one has white lettering on one side, the cheaper one is just black on both sides.
For what its worth, I got 4 brand new 35" MTRs to my door (from Ca to Tn) for $630. I found a dealer on ebay and he gave me a good price.

The two differences you are seeing are the speed rating and the color of the lettering.
P = 93 MPH rating
Q = 99 MPH rating
BSL = black lettering on the sidewall
OWl = outside white lettering
The only reason to buy the more expensive is if you plan on running near 100mph. If you can run a Toyota with 35" MTR's at 100 mph, you da man!!!
