Mickey Thompson Baja Lock vs Ion Alloy 174?
Hi,
I've got a 93 pickup 22re with 15x8 steelies. I'm looking to switch them out for aluminum wheels to drop some rotational weight. So the question is, which wheels would be better? I've noticed the Ion Alloys are cheaper, but I'd rather pay more for the Mickey Thompsons if they're lighter. The 15x8 MTs are 17 lbs and I can't find the weight of the 15x8 Ion Alloys. Does anyone know? Also, would either of these wheels have problems rubbing with 31x10.50s on stock suspension? Last, anyone have pictures of the wheels installed on a pickup?
Thanks

Ions are ~26lbs/ea. as long as you pay attention to the backspacing you shouldn't have any issues installing either wheel. FYI that spec tire fits stock wheels perfectly without any issues, the size was a dealer option.
IMO, if you're actually forking out money to buy wheels, perhaps think down the road and decide if you're ever going to up your tire size or width in the future. might make sense to get wheels that will also fit those instead of buying wheels twice. just sayin'. good luck!

Yeah man I googled the crap out of weight for Ions.. even searched on this forum and jeep forums. Every weight was conflicting.. A lot said lows 20, whereas some were in the mid 20s. Thanks for the insight about buying the right size wheels. I won't be lifting my truck, I want it to stay unmolested. The BFGoodrich T/a KO 31x10.50s will always be fine for my application. Im just sick of the look of the all black steelies and their weight.

So I've decided to go with the Mickey thompsons. They have a backspacing of 3 and 5/8 or ~3.62. Will these still work with the 31s? I know 3.75 seems popular but I'm curious if the Mickey thompsons would work without too much rubbing. Thanks again
