goodyear wrangler mt/r pricing?

in another thread, andy says:

ive checked at several stores, and those that actually sell them (few and far between!) sell them for well over $200/tire.

the cheapest deal i found was a 'buy 3 get 1 free' sale that sullivan tire is going to run on all GY tires next month. that'll save me a lot and make the pricing reasonable.

any comments here on why it is that theyre so much pricier here? is it just bad luck, am i farther from where theyre made or something?

the buy 3 get 1 free deal comes out cheaper than tirerack, in case someone was wondering.

my local goodyear store quoted me 185 + tax and balancing for a 285, but they didn't think the buy 3 get 1 offer applied to truck tires

Doesn't Sam's Club include mount, balance, disposal, road hazard, lifetime rotation and balance?

Maybe they don't offer everything on an off-road tire.

But if their location isn't convenient, guess you have to look else where.

Why are you going with the MT/R over the KOs?

buy 3 get 1 free offer is at SULLIVAN TIRE, not goodyear stores.

goodyear store quoted me $881 installed, thats with NO road hazard guarantee. to get the road hazard its like $20 more PER TIRE.

ridiculous.

im gonna try sams club this weekend, see what they say.

i chose mt/r's cause they seem to perform better in the wet and snow.... which is what i see a lot of for most of the year.

EDIT: Bamachem's prices are the same as prices as around here, only at Discount/Americas Tire, Costco, and Goodyear. Everyone else is $200-$250.

that sam's club price was via http://www.samsclub.com

go there and find your store closest to you and it will give you the price. they are a special order item, but can be in within a couple of days.

usually the "buy 3 get 1 free" aren't at a certain retailer but is usually sponsored by the manufacturer and therefore will be available at all participating retailers...

i'm holding out for april as well...

check.

i mentioned it to the goodyear store and they said no, that deal wasnt going on.

so i thought it was just a sullivan tire thing...

they may not have word of it since it doesn't start until april. also, it would be in their best interest if you bought 4 at regular price instead of on sale. that way they get a profit margin on 4 tires and not only 3. just hold out for another 10 days and then make your decision...

sams usually doesn't run those "deals" since they're pricing on everything is already lower than anybody else's.

so, that's $700 + tax. does that include M&B?

even if they're $230/tire at sullivan's, once the 4 for 3 sale kicks in, it would still be cheaper than sam's...

Goodyear rates the Wrangler SilentArmor higher then the MT/R in the dry, wet, and snow.

The SilentArmor seems like a direct competitor to the KO.

The MT/R seems to lack the sipes for wet and ice performance.

I have not owned any of these tires, but will be in the market.

yea, i did that math out.

i think ill get 1 tire from sams for the spare. we'll see... though i dont think running a 265/70 with 3 265/75s for the 1 day id need to do that if i got a flat would be all that big a deal.

makes sense that sams doesnt participate....

sullivan is actually $215/tire...

so: 3 x 215 = $645, M&B
4 x 175.78 = $703.12, not sure if thats M&B..

man im spening a lot on my runner in the next 4 weeks... sub = $230, install of sub = $40, pp springs = $369.95, install = $70, bilsteins = $282 shipped, install = (included in pp install), and now tires = $645!

jeez.

lol...

new sahara bar = $1300
paint/clearcoat = $300
new RD90 locker for the front = $650
new front grill = $140
new L HL bucket = $50
new R HL bucket = $50
new 4.56 Yukons = $300
new Master Install Kits for the gears = $200
used front diff = $100
used rear third = $200
gear/locker labor = $300
new taurus fan = $50
new differential fan controller = $110

that's $3850 just for parts and NO LABOR on the repairs.

of course, I've only paid about $3100, and I'll be selling my front diff, rear third, and the Supercharger and extra pulleys to recoup almost $2000 of that.

in april, i'll also have another $800 in tires, but then selling my current ones for $300...

does it EVER end???

i got insurance $$ from when a lady rearended me (why do i feel dumb typing that each time? ) --$385 smackers. so thats my springs paid for at least.

who are you selling your tires to? my old ones still have like 75% tread on 'em (265/70/16 dunlop radial rover a/t's), i know they arent worth $300, but surely theyre worth $100-$150 to someone!

you'd do better ebay yours. mine have two buyers in the SE waiting in line for them and i've only mentioned it and haven't advertised that i'm selling them.

i have over 30k on the MT/R's and they have over half the tread left...

I would not buy any Goodyear Wrangler tire EXCEPT the MT/R, all other Wrangler tires are very, very crappy IMHO, but the MT/R rocks.
