Hunter's Stew

This is one of my favorites for the first night out. You make it at home, so there is no prep work in the field. We lived on these in boy scouts.

Ingredients:
1/2 lb of ground beef
1 large tater
1/4 onion
2 cloves garlic
1 carrot
Salt/pepper/spices
Tin foil
love

Slice taters 1/4 to 1/8 in thick (thinner cooks quicker)
Cut up onion
Slice carrots

Get a good size piece of tin foil 12"x12" and in the middle lay down about 1/2 of the taters, then lay down the carrots/onion/spices

Layer the ground beef

Layer the rest of the taters.

Wrap that puppy up and toss it in the cooler.

Once you get to camp and the fire is going, get a good coal bed going. Grab the foil pack (better double wrapped) and the shovel.

Place the package in the coals and let simmer/cook for 20-30 mins or untill potatoes are done.

The beauty is, no prep in camp, a quick meal, toss the foil for the cleanup.

The best parts are the crispy taters closest to the foil, yummy

Easy sleazy

We've done this one too..........but we've used steak instead of ground beef. Probably not the best way to prepare a steak but you can't beat the convenience as well as clean up..........or lack there of!
