Planning a trip in the midwest

I'm trying to come up with some camping ideas for next summer. I'd like to take the wife and dogs, a 4 year old lab, a 2 year old dalmation mix and a 1 and 1/2 year old norwegian elkhound, and do some camping and hiking.

I was thinking about just doing some camping first and letting the dogs get used to the tent. Then with some easy one night out and back hiking and then some moderate trails.

Any sugestions or advice about taking the dogs would also be appreciated. I'm still looking at tents. I found a Eureaka that I like and I stayed in those for years camping. Also any camping gear that would be good to take for the dogs.

If anyone has a sugestion about places to go in Missouri and northern Arkansas that are do friendly and would be a good place to go please let me know.

For what ever reason dogs a forbidden in most National parks. I don't know if its nationally or just mostly here. I may not have taken the time to notice before. So this may be a problem for ya'll. Most, here anyways, will allow dogs on the camp grounds and roads but not trails.

Research the places before you go.
